eJuice Review 369: Choc Mint by Redback Vapery

Today’s flavour, I am no stranger to. I’ve reviewed a tonne of this profile before, every vendor seems to have their own version! Having said that, it is an age old favourite for many, and an instant go to for many vapers out there.

So, let’s see how Redback Vapery have tackled the task!

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Choc Mint” by Redback Vapery.

(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor.)

Flavour Description

This eliquid is an exquisite blend of smooth rich chocolate and peppermint, with a final blast of menthol to really accentuate the flavours.

The Review:

I’ve enjoyed this one very much, it’s slightly different than many others of the same profile out there, and in doing so Redback Vapery have created something both tasty and with a lovely smooth texture.

“Choc Mint” is a flavoursome mix of milk chocolate, both smooth and rich, with a hint of peppermint and an overlay of cooling agent.

Individual Notes

The chocolate in this flavour is a little more of a milk chocolate than most, many have a real cocoa based nuance, that doesn’t come across as very convincing, this is more genuine. Don’t get me wrong it’s not perfect, and chocolate vapes rarely are, but I quite like the mix that has been used, the texture is great, and it has more of a creamy consistency.

Redback have used a cooling agent in here which I find a great addition, it helps blend the peppermint with the chocolate seamlessly, washing the mix with an overlay of chill.

The peppermint is not as strong in this version as I’ve noticed with other vendors, but it works really well considering that there is extra cooling agent here too.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale I get an instant chilled hit of the cooling agent, I know that it’s cooling agent as it’s really noticeable on the inhale, mints and menthols are more noticeable on the exhale. With the cooling agent, a hint of peppermint also comes through, with an even smaller chocolate note falling in behind in the background.

Onto the exhale, I notice the intensity of the chocolate begin to rise, creating a nice rich and thick texture. It blends really well with the peppermint and both get more intense as the vape continues.

Things start to cool down again toward the end of the exhale as the cooling agent kicks in, leaving the end of the vape a thick cocoa/chocolate texture with sweet but chilled peppermint and a really nice cooling effect.

Final thoughts

I really like that Redback have put a bit of cooling agent in here, it adds a really great chilled effect which just excentuates the peppermint and chocolate. The chocolate here is also a much nicer vape than many others, with much less of the cocoa feel, and a little bit more of a milk chocolate.

I do have one ‘con’ however. This flavour puts out a bit of an offensive smell. It’s great to vape, but for anyone in the room not vaping it… well let’s just say its been described as an “expired chocolate milk smell”, so be aware of who is around when vaping this one!

If you don’t care what anybody else around you thinks, this one is a pleasure to vape, and probably one of my favourites of this profile.

Well done guys.

Chocolate and mint

Coil and wick damage:

A little darkening of wicks but no other issues

PG/VG Ratio:

70%VG / 30%PG

Full bodied thick and minty!

A steep is recommended due to the chocolate.

Presentation:

Quite nice presentation here. I received 30ml stubby chubby gorilla bottles with childproof caps, and needle tip nozzles. Some of the bottles are clear, others are smokey grey clear with the Redback Vapery label firmly affixed. The labels are white with splashes of colour, the liquid name, company logo, bottle size and vg/pg ratio. I would have like to see some warnings or standard ingredients list on here, the information on the labels is a little sparse.

Test rigs:

Haku with slam cap running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
OBS Engine RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
