eJuice Review 442: Mother in Law by The Mixtress

We’re back to a fruity juice today folks! We’ve seen the The Mixtress drum up some tasty fruit mixes so far, as well as a pretty great, rich strawberry custard, but this one is a little bit different.

Gone are the complex blends, the 6 flavour mixes, this one is simple. Sometimes simple is great, there’s nothing better than a true blue simple flavour that is just right, to turn into your next all day vape.

Let’s see how we go with it. Has The Mixtress hit it out of the park again?

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Mother in Law” from The Mixtress
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

Sometimes sweet but mostly sour, a bitterness that’s tied to you for life.

The Review:

The description of this one eludes to a citrus that much is obvious with it’s mention of sourness, but I wasn’t expecting the sweetness that I found while vaping it!

If you’re full of questions now I wouldn’t blame you! “Mother in Law” is a light and juicy sour lemon, with a sweet home made lemonade background.

Individual Notes

The actual lemon, doesn’t punch you in the throat with this one, it’s lighter, more of an undertone than a really sour lemon. It’s also less of a realistic lemon flesh than it is a lemon cordial type of flavour.

The lemonade is delicately added to the lemon, offering a little bit of a fizzy sensation, but very much a home made lemonade than the retail version. No Sprite here. There is a slight fizziness and in turn a dryness from it while vaping.

Inhale & Exhale

The inhale and exhale are very similar with the exception of the flavour intensity of course.

The inhale is more of a lemon or lemon cordial, quite light with a small amount of citrus sourness. Far from what you might expect though. This intensifies as you inhale, but doesn’t quite reach that sweet spot, intensity-wise.

As you exhale, the lemonade begins to dominate, a little sweeter than the lemon alone, this again intensifies through the exhale just as the lemon did on the inhale, with a dry fizziness to it. The finish has quite an artificial feel, not overly sweet, not overly sour, kind of dialed back as the the two flavours seem to surprisingly cancel each other out.

Final thoughts

I’m a little disappointed to be honest. I was hoping that this might have that wow factor, a little bit of oomph to it that would make up for it’s lack of complexity. This should have been a home run, being such a simple mix, but instead, I’m finding it kind of dry, lack lustre, and just not very memorable.

Don’t get me wrong this is not a bad flavour, it’s a tasty juice, but on the scale from bad to great, it’s in the middle somewhere, around about the OK mark.

I would have liked to have seen the lemon much stronger, almost face wincingly strong, with a bunch of sourness and power behind it, the same with the lemonade, perhaps a more artificial lemonade might have made some difference.

I do like that slight fizziness that I notice, and the flavour is good, there is just much more that it could be.
