eJuice Review 406: Twice on Sundae by Vaper Empire

Most of the flavours that I’ve tried from Vapers Empire, have been fruit based, or tobacco, so far. Today’s is a dessert mix, and quite a popular one at that!
If you haven’t heard of these guys before, Vaper Empire have been around for many years, catering mainly to beginners with their products centred around starter kits, and inadvertently, mouth to lung vaping. Today, I’ll be reviewing “Twice on Sundae” from Vaper Empire!

Flavour Description

THICK & CREAMY VANILLA CUSTARD WITH A DROP OF CARAMEL.
It’s a cloudless day on the Boardwalk at Coney Island. Red and white striped circus awnings provide shade from the noon bright sun as young couples run from the carousel to Steeplechase Park to race the wooden horses around the track. The sunlight sparkles off the ocean waves, and the scent of vanilla custard cream and sweet caramel spill out of the carts like a carnival for the senses.

The Review:

I’ve actually only just looked at the description for this flavour, and have to admit, my experience with it doesn’t match the description completely. It’s close, just not exactly.
Depicted as a more 2 flavour concoction, I’m finding that it is a little more complex than just the caramel and custard. There seems to be a nutty feel to it. A little hazelnut type of flavour that just hangs on in the background. It is persistent enough to be quite noticeable, but not as dominant as the main flavours.
So, rather than a “Creamy Vanilla custard with a drop of caramel”, I’d liken this more to a “Rich decadent caramel with thick vanilla custard tones, and a hint of hazelnut”.

Individual Notes

I think the caramel is the strongest flavour in this juice. The description says that its just a drop of caramel, but I’m really getting a whole lot of sticky, rich, sweet caramel. Much more than is eluded to.

The vanilla custard, as I mentioned earlier, seems to carry most of the weight, providing the thicker texture and carrying the caramel along the vape, rather than leaving it as a short lived note. Both of these are working in unison to help the flavour’s longevity and my ability to pick up on other subtle hints of complimentary notes along the way.
Nuts! Not to be confused with a strong nutty or earthy flavour, this is just a nuance, but a nuance that is ever present and quite noticeable. Because both the vanilla and caramel have really strong lower notes, the nut mixes in with them really well, without losing it’s edge, and without dominating either of them.

How’s she vape?

A little light to be honest. Well through a MTL device anyway. Through a Direct Lung inhale, you’ll notice the custard more, and appreciate the depth of this juice than you would through a Mouth to Lung setup unfortunately.
The vape starts with an instant caramel kick, a little burnt/smokey but rich and nutty, which is then followed by a little thickness and un-mistakeable vanilla that comes from the custard. You’ll notice a light but noticeable nutty feel throughout the vape, particularly on the exhale, where the other flavours waver a little leaving you with a caramelized nut finish.

Final thoughts

I’m a little disappointed with this one, not with the eliquid itself, because it’s a good flavour. But it seems that custard just doesn’t seem to vape well via MTL. Perhaps it’s just me, but I feel like custards really need that deep inhale, to help bring the depth out of the flavour, and doing mouth inhales, doesn’t give me the full spectrum that I’m expecting. I suppose we will see, because I still have 2 juice reviews to go for this range and one of them is another dessert!
All in all, this is a tasty juice, if a little thin when vaped through a MTL setup, full of sweet rich caramel tones and a thick vanilla custard to provide that silky mouth feel.
Would I vape it again? Probably not. Not that I hated it, it was just one of those flavours that didn’t excite me, so I enjoyed it a little less than many others. “This” is of course personal preference, and there will be plenty of people that will adore this.

Presentation:

I can’t fault Vaper Empire’s presentation, they’re branding packs quite the impact, being both polished and designed for the elite crowd. Sophistication is the word I guess I’m looking for. From the packaging of their starter kits through to the matt black labelling with gold/silver/bronze foil printing on their labels, it all just oozes class.
I received 10ml bottles of each of their flavours, each bottle is clear plastic with a black child-proof cap and needle tip dispenser.
The labels are classy matt black, with their logo and juice name printed in foil, creating quite an impressive look. They have a tonne of information on these labels, even if it is a little hard to read, including but not limited to bottle size, nicotine strength, best before date, warnings, ingredients and their web url.

Test rigs:

Vandy Vape Simple EX squonk kit with 22mm standard RDA and a mouth to lung clapton coil that ohms out at 0.9ohms.
I’ll be vaping somewhere between around 15-25watts.
