eJuice Review 405: Old Port Royal by Vaper Empire

eJuice Review 405: Old Port Royal by Vaper Empire

So far, on “MTL” (mouth to lung) week, we’ve seen a couple of interesting mixes. Both have been quite sharp and fruity mixes. Well, we’re going full on ex smoker style today and taking a look at a flavour that many will remember having a crack at when they first started vaping in order to quit the cancer sticks. A sweet tobacco!

If you haven’t heard of these guys before, Vaper Empire have been around for many years, catering mainly to beginners with their products centred around starter kits, and inadvertently, mouth to lung vaping. So if you’re new and just getting started with vaping, give Vaper Empire a look, their eliquids are crafted just for you!

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Old Port Royal” from Vaper Empire!

(This e-liquid was supplied by the vendor.)

Flavour Description

Old Port Royal is a full-flavoured e liquid with a wholesome and perfectly balanced flavour of aged sweet tobacco. It’s a particularly fine choice for former smokers who are looking for an e liquid that is unique yet familiar. Just like all our other blends, Old Port Royal is manufactured in a strictly monitored environment with high-quality ingredients and pharmaceutical-grade nicotine. We use a world-class facility to produce each and every bottle and maximise accountability through strict batch control.

The Review:

We all remember the “Port Royal” pouches of tobacco, if you’ve never bought any yourself, you’ve certainly had a mate that smoked them and passed you a “Roll your own” when you were low.

Usually you’d equate “Port Royal” tobacco as being a sweet tobacco with hints of wine, or rum, with an underlying caramel chocolate and cherry blend. This one is not that tobacco.

This is more of a sweet tobacco with light bourbon, caramel and honey tones and a wonderfully thick smokey finish.

Individual Notes

The sweet tobacco here is fantastic, I’m not picking up any unsavoury notes, there are no grassy or overly earthy flavours here, which in my opinion ruin quite a lot of tobacco juices. It’s light but strong enough to satisfy most tobacco lovers without pretending to be something it’s not, with a slight dryness and a nice smokiness to it.

There is an underlying bourbon note here, which is what seems to provide the sweetness, it’s a real ‘back of the tongue’ background flavour that washes in and out during the vape.

Along with the bourbon, I notice a little bit of caramel too, a sweet caramel, blending really nicely with the tobacco.

I notice a little bit of a sweet honey here too, it could be part of the bourbon flavour, like a honey bourbon, it really is more a faint supporting note than a primary flavour though.

How’s she vape?

It’s really tasty! Not packed with flavour of course, after all this is a tobacco, but Vapers Empire have done a wonderful job in levelling the individual flavours. With the tobacco, caramel and bourbon being more dominant, the honey just laying in wait in the background adding a little extra interest and a bit of a taller note to contrast the dominant lower notes.

In a MTL device, like I said before, this is not a heavy flavour, and I think that is the beauty of this juice, its a flavour that you’ll be able to vape all day without getting tired of, and if you’re anything like me, you’ll spend most of that time hunting down the various nuances that make up this mild sweet tobacco.

Final thoughts

I’ve really enjoyed “Old Port Royal”, it’s totally not what I expected, but a great flavour all the same. If you’re looking for that typical “Wine or Rum infused tobacco”, you won’t find it here, instead, this is a sweet tobacco with light caramel, bourbon and honey highlights. Not a “Port Royal” in the modern sense certainly, but an aged tobacco succinct with tobaccos from many years ago.

One of the best tobacco flavours that I’ve tried!

A real regal flavour for the discerning tobacco vaper!

Presentation:

I can’t fault Vaper Empire’s presentation, they’re branding packs quite the impact, being both polished and designed for the elite crowd. Sophistication is the word I guess I’m looking for. From the packaging of their starter kits through to the matt black labelling with gold/silver/bronze foil printing on their labels, it all just oozes class.
I received 10ml bottles of each of their flavours, each bottle is clear plastic with a black child-proof cap and needle tip dispenser.

The labels are classy matt black, with their logo and juice name printed in foil, creating quite an impressive look. They have a tonne of information on these labels, even if it is a little hard to read, including but not limited to bottle size, nicotine strength, best before date, warnings, ingredients and their web url.

Test rigs:

Vandy Vape Simple EX squonk kit with 22mm standard RDA and a mouth to lung clapton coil that ohms out at 0.9ohms.
I’ll be vaping somewhere between around 15-25watts.
