eJuice Review 385: Lammi by The Barton Vape Co

eJuice Review 385: Lammi by The Barton Vape Co

We are finished. Finished with the tobacco reviews, that is. Now it’s time to get on with some other interesting flavours from The Barton Vape co.

Ever since these guys came out with their initial tobacco range, they’ve been tacking an extra non-tobacco flavour on from time to time. So far there are 3 non-tobacco flavours in their range, and I’m going to be looking at all 3 of them, with the first one being right now.

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Lammi”.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor.)

Flavour Description

The ultimate lammington vape for chocoholics everywhere! This is rich chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate laced with coconut.

The Review:

I’ve actually only just read the description of this juice right now, this second. And I do have to admit, my thoughts about this flavour over the last 2 days has been pretty much spot on with the description that has been used.
“Lammi” is a really rich chocolate covered sponge cake base with a light dusting of coconut.

You know how you can get some lamingtons that are lighter and sweeter, but then also others that just seem to have a much richer feel to them? You take a look at it and think, “Yeah I can smash a couple of those no worries”, and then you get about halfway through and realise that you’re not even gong to go for the second, because its just that damned rich!

That’s this flavour in a nutshell. Obviously not as rich as I just eluded to above, but richer than those fake lamingtons. This is the real thing, no light hearted flavours here, this is the real, rich, decadent lamington of old!

Individual Notes

This chocolate is not your run of the mill milk chocolate, well not as Australians are aclimatised to anyway. This is a sticky syrupy chocolate that comes across as warm and smooth, rich and velvety.

Staying true to the lamington, there is a little sponge cake note here also. It’s a lighter layer, falling away in the background most of the time, but adds to the authenticity, and depth. You can’t have a lamington without the sponge!

The coconut really is the star of the show, it may not be the dominant flavour, but it influences everything. I think it both richens the chocolate and lightens the sponge cake, acting as a complimentary flavour to both, whilst changing their profiles a little.
It’s difficult to explain, but the coconut that was used here, isnt a candy coconut, it has a more realistic feel in a way, but all the while providing sweetness. It’s just not a candy sweetness.

Inhale & Exhale

The inhale is mostly light chocolate and realistic coconut shavings, they create a really nice almost “bounty” like flavour, whilst being a little less candy. Perhaps a better description would be a rum ball without the rum!
At the height of the inhale, I’m presented with a full chocolate richness, it has an almost chocolate sauce kind of feel to it, rather than a milk chocolate, the realistic coconut notes definitely help it reach it’s richness.

At the turn of the inhale and onto the exhale, the richness of the chocolate and coconut continues, as a light sponge cake begins to come through, thickening up the texture and mouth feel, letting you know that this is a lamington, not just a chocolate. Continuing on the exhale, I find that the sponge cake and coconut falls back a little again, while the chocolate stays put lashing your tongue with a chocolate sauce finish.

Final thoughts

Top notch work on this one guys. The only thing I would have liked to have seen, is perhaps a “fluffier”? coconut, a little stronger on the exhale, if that makes sense. The chocolate and coconut blends brilliantly, which in turn doesn’t allow the coconut to pop as much as it could right at the end.

Either way, this is a brilliant blend, and The Barton Vape co have captured the Lamington profile perfectly, right down to the richer chocolate and the underlying sponge.

Great job!

Presentation:

I’m really liking the clean professional presentation of The Barton range. It’s straight to the point, clear and concise, and visually appealing. I have right here, 30ml black tinted LDPE bottles with child-proof cap and needle tip dispenser. The labels are professionally printed, with a different pattern for each flavour, the Barton Vape Co logo front and centre, as well as the juice name, and the words “Ready to Vape”.

As for information on the labels, they have the usual stuff, but a little more interesting, this is the first time I’ve come across an Aussie vendor going to the trouble of mentioning nuts, soy and dairy. Specifically, “May contain traces of tree nuts, soy and dairy”.
If indeed many eliquids “could” contain any of these things, this should be on every bottle from every vendor. Great work on that guys.

Test rigs:

Haku with slam cap running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
OBS Engine RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
