Advken Potento 2 Pod Review

Advken Potento 2 Pod Review

Welcome back readers, many of you would remember my review of the original Advken Potento Pod device some time ago. It got my seal of approval due to it’s excellent draw, fantastic dense flavour and complete ease of use.
Since then, Advken have pretty busy, they’ve released the Potento X, a smaller, more compact version of the Potento, much akin to the Uwell Koko, and now, an upgrade to the actual original stick pod style system called the Potento 2.

Advken are quite a progressive company, and not only listen to feedback from consumers, but also take a lot of what we say about their products, and improve on them as best they can, often rolling changes into their newer releases which is exactly what has happened here.

So now I’ve got my hands on this new version, how does it stack up? Am I loving it as much as the original? Exactly what has changed?

Read on to find out!

Big thanks goes to Vaporstate, who are the Advken global partner in Australia, for sending this through for me to review!

General Info

The new Potento v2, while so very similar to the original Advken Potento, actually features a few welcome improvements over the original.

It still holds the very same look and feel, the same styling and general design, even the embossed “POTENTO” and dotted design are back for this new version. The colours available, or more accurately, the paintwork on the Potento 2 has been modified to include a black fade from the bottom of the device into it’s main colour, also still retaining that kind of metallic look to it. I actually really like the newer paint over the old, and think it gives the device a much sleeker look.

The paint isn’t the only thing that has changed slightly however, you’ll find that the Potento now has modified Pods, the Power button has been completely removed, and the Potentiometer and USB Type C charging port have been moved also.

The Body

The actual body is so very similar to the original too. Keeping with their winning lightweight aluminium frame, you can put both versions together and really see the similarities. The “stick” form factor is back, with the classic Potento’s styling, embossing, general size and shape of the device are all very much identical to the original.

Up top is your Pod recess, where your Pod slides in and clicks firmly into place, this has changed a little, providing a more e-liquid proof design to ensure if there ever was a leak that it will do minimal damage. There are 2 gold plated connection pins, as well as the small auto-draw activator.

On one side near the bottom, you’ll find a small LED light that will change colour depending on how low your battery is, and on the other side, the new and improved wattage adjustment wheel.

On the bottom of the device, you’ll find the USB Type C charge port, moved there from the side of the device on the first version.

The PODs

The Pods for the Potento 2 haven’t changed since they were upgraded after the release of the original Potento, and before the release of the Potento X. You’ll fit a good 2.5mls of e-liquid into them, and they feature a side fill, rounded duck bill design.

Made from a PCTG crack proof plastic, the pods are darkly tinted, requiring you to hold them up to the light in order to really see where your e-liquid level is specially when filling.

Filling is thankfully pretty easy to do, open up the silicone plug on the side of the pod and fill. You may need to move the pod around a little to make sure you get the air bubbles out, if there are any, but that’s about it.

Airflow

Another thing very similar to the original is the airflow. There’s no adjustment so you’re locked into the available airflow that you have, coming in from 2 small holes on either side of the device, up under the Pod and through the centre coil.

I’ve noticed the draw on these Pods has changed ever so slightly from the originals, with the original pods being a little more restrictive than the new pods. The prior more suited to tight MTL vaping with the latter, working better with a more restrictive DTL style of vaping. I loved the draw of the original Pods and that restriction was perfect for me, so I’m a little disappointed that the newer Pods are more open.
I’ve found myself holding a finger over one of the airholes in order to replicate that tight draw of the originals.

If you like a tighter draw, you can do this too, or a small piece of tape will work also.

The Power adjustment

As you’ll likely already notice, the Potentiometer or power adjustment on the Potento 2 has moved. It used to be on the bottom of the device, in the form of a disk that you spin to adjust your voltage. It’s swapped places with the usb port and is now actually on the side of the device. Furthering the design of it, Advken have also added a guard on the side of it too, to minimise any adjustment that may happen while in your pocket. Smart work!
There are markings on the adjustment wheel going from 1 through to 6, which relate to increments of power between 3.2V-4.2V.

Battery

You’ll likely notice this one straight away, Advken have moved the USB charging port to the bottom of the device. While some might not like this, which forces you to lay the device down for charging, it’s not an issue for me. I fully expect to have to lie this type of Pod system down anyway, due to the size and shape of it.

I think it’s a good move, and shifts the focus away from where it was on the original, on one side of the device.

The internal battery included in the Potento 2 is exactly the same capacity as the original, come in at the 580mah mark, which is plenty to get you through most of the day, and charges quite quickly, even if the USB Type C port is not fast charging.

Filling

As mentioned earlier, filling is simple. Unplug the silicone plug, fill with e-liquid. You’re done.

Any Leaks?

No leaks, I haven’t even noticed any seepage or condensation at all either.

Pros:

  • Sleek and stylish
  • Lightweight and portable
  • Variable Voltage
  • Excellent MTL draw
  • Long lasting PODs
  • Long lasting battery
  • Passthrough charging
  • USB Type-C charge port
  • Very responsive auto-draw
  • Excellent flavour

Cons:

  • One piece POD/coil
  • No Pods in the box

Where to Buy:

Here in Australia, I’m sure these will get picked up by a bunch of vape stores, but Vaporstate will be the place to get them from early on. I believe that they’ll also be doing a good deal on these to counter the fact that there are no Pods in the box. It’ll be a “purchase the device, and get a free set of x3 Pods” sort of deal, although I’m not quite sure of the price since they are not listed yet.

Conclusion

Advken have listened to the feedback and made even more improvements on their original Potento with the v2. This is one super stylish and portable device, easy to slip into your pocket as you’re going out, and having quite a long lasting e-liquid capacity, you might not even need to worry about taking juice with you!

I’m enjoying most of their improvements, and really like this device. One thing that I do still enjoy better on the original though, is the tighter MTL draw, and having a power button on it. Just for those times I’d like to turn it off for safety. I’m not really sure why these changed but I’m missing them.

I really like the relocation of the usb port as well as the potentiometer or voltage adjustment, and that little guard that stops any pocket adjustment is a great little addition.

I’m in love the new paint and finish on the new versions too! They look fantastic.

Great work Advken!
