Wotofo MDURA Pro Mod Reviewed

Welcome back guys, today I don’t have a kit for you, I don’t have a Pod system for you, instead I have a good old trusty Mod only review, and boy is this one tough mod!

You all know Wotofo, they’ve been around for ages, and brought some really well known setups to market, including but not limited to, the Troll series, the Profile series, and every product under those banners. They’ve always been a very forward facing company, often producing new features, and making sure the design of their products is not only modern but well thought out and easy to use.

Well this time around, Wotofo have released their very first IP67 rated device. It’s a dual battery, IP67 rated water-proof, shock-proof and dust-proof behemoth, that can withstand water submersion up to 1 metre deep for 30 minutes, and boasts a full suite of temperature controls, high power output, and large colour screen!

Let’s take a look at Wotofo’s MDURA Pro mod!

Big thanks goes to Wotofo for sending this directly through to me for review!

General Info & Photos

The MDURA Pro isn’t just a large device for the sake of it (47.4mm, 88.1mm, 33.1mm), it’s built to be a tank, made from Zinc Alloy and Rubber, it’s able to withstand some pretty hard knocks as well as being IP67 rated, (dust-proof, water-proof and shock-proof). It’s not just Tonka tough, it’s built to push out some impressive power too. With a max output wattage of 230 Watts, this baby will fire almost any coil thrown at it, even those big chunky coils with really slow ramp up.

The MDURA takes x2 18650 batteries to get you up to that 230W maximum power output, with a built in USB Type C charge port to top you up in an emergency.

Up top is a stainless steel 510 connection, with spring loaded, gold plated contact pin. The top of this device is quite spacious, so you can fit some pretty large tanks on here too. The Hellvape Fat Rabbit fits with plenty of room to spare, and that is 28mm in diameter, so this will fit even larger atomizers.

One side is embellished with a full sized padded leather pillow surrounded by a metal fascia. The other side is similar, but instead of the full sized padded leather, the fascia surrounds a large panel with a 1.3” TFT colour screen and 3 small buttons for changing modes, and wattage options. Embedded in this fascia is also a USB Type-C charging port hidden behind a rubber seal that you lift away.

Both narrow sides are essentially blank, covered in rubber, with the exception of one side housing the large rectangular fire button.

Underneath on the base, you’ll find a door that swings away to reveal your dual battery bay.

Battery

Designed to be powered by x2 18650 batteries, the MDURA Pro has a swinging door that is easily opened via a latch, and sealed with rubber to ensure that your batteries don’t get wet, or get any dust inside. This door takes a little bit to open and close, which is to be expected considering how robust it needs to be for the IP67 rating.
There is ample marking there to show which direction the batteries should be inserted. Hot tip, hold the battery door closed firmly with one hand as you slide the latch shut.
Wotofo have also been kind enough to line the battery bay with a sheet of plastic, so if you happen you have a tiny nick in your battery wrap, it won’t earth out to any of the inside components.

If you’re caught out with low batteries and do not have an external charger around, Wotofo have provided a USB Type-C charging port on the front of the device, able to charge at a 5V/2A fast charge rate. The MDURA also has pass-through charging, so you can vape from it while your batteries are charging. From the minimal amount that I’ve used the charging port, it seems to charge the batteries relatively evenly. I haven’t noticed any drastic difference in their discharge.

Usage & Features

The MDURA Pro is pretty straight forward to use, it has many of the same functions most other devices have, and also shares a few of the button combinations to access settings.

  • On/Off : Click the fire button x5 times
  • Change Mode: Press and hold the menu system button (far left); you can then change the mode settings, standard, power, power+, Ti, Ni, SS as well as TCR setting.
  • Stealth Mode: A quick tap of the menu button will put the device into stealth mode tap it again to wake the screen up!
  • Lock/Unlock device: Press both adjustment buttons together.
  • Clear Puff counter: Hold the fire and minus buttons together.
  • Change screen colour: Fire and plus buttons together .

The chipset inside the MDURA Pro has some inbuilt protections as you would expect, including, Timeout protection 10s, Short circuit protection, Overcharge protection, Over discharge protection, and Reverse polarity protection.

Pros:

  • Heavy duty
  • IP67 rated dust-proof, shock-proof, water-proof
  • High 230W maximum wattage
  • USB Passthrough charging
  • Full mode range
  • Capacity for large atomizers

Cons:

  • Plastic covering screen is a little flimsy

Where to Buy:

You can pick up the Wotofo MDURA Pro mod directly through Wotofo’s online store for around the $60 USD price point, I haven’t seen them listed on any Australian sites yet, but as more users start picking these up, I’m sure a few will begin stocking them.

Conclusion

The MDURA Pro is a tank of a device, it’s built tough, with quality components, and some real thought has been put behind the general chassis to allow it to be IP67 rated. Sure it’s a little bulky, but you couldn’t expect any different for something that is designed to be Shock-proof, Dust-proof, and Water-proof.

It fires instantly, with a prominent click to the buttons, has all of the power modes you might expect, including temperature control, and an additional Power+ mode that fires a little hotter to begin with to get your coils running at the right temperature.

All in all, I’m really happy with what Wotofo have done here, the MDURA is a great dual battery mod that I’ll likely keep using for a long while yet, whenever I’m wanting to give a large tank a run!!

Great work guys!
