Innokin Sensis Kit Reviewed

Innokin Sensis Kit Reviewed

Innokin have been around since day dot. They’re a world leading vape brand that proved themselves many years ago with their iClear Clearomizer, their long relied upon starter kits the T18 and T22 kits, and a myriad of other products over the years that have become household names.

They jumped into the Pod game a little while back, with their EQ range, and more recently their well received ‘Sceptre’ Pod. Well now they’re throwing their hat in the ring with a Pod Mod! This one is brand new, only recently released, and showing Innokin’s true dedication to innovation, comes with a few cool little features you’ll likely never have come across before!

Let’s take a look at the Innokin Sensis Kit!

Big thanks goes to Easy Vape Distribution for sending this directly through to me for review!

General Info & Photos

The Innokin Sensis is a really nice looking device, it’s a great size, with a really ergonomic shape, leather inserts, and a nice two tone colour scheme. It very much combines a lot of features that you can find on various other devices, and pulls them all into the one product. Voopoo airflow adjustment, Geekvape general design and leather grip, and full panel fire button from (I’m not quite sure where but I’ve seen it a few times).

Let’s put looks aside for the moment while we run through all of the features. The Sensis isn’t just a looker, but it also has some pretty good specs. You’ll get a 3000mah internal battery with fast charge capability, and USB Type-C charge port, a 3ml ‘Glass’ pod, yes I said glass for a much cleaner vape, excellent vibrant display and screen, adjustable airflow, a 40 Watt power cap, all in the one tidy device.

Innokin never disappoint in what is put in the box either, with two coil options, and everything you might need INCLUDING a 510 adapter, so that you can run your own tank on top of the device, you’re getting some pretty good bang for your buck here.

Innokin, being as innovative as they are have also gone to town on the function side of things. Built into the chip are some pretty impressive vaping modes that are quite impressive, pushing the boundaries of how power is delivered to the coil. We’ll get into these features a little later in the review, but they are worth the wait, I promise!

The Body

The main body of the Sensis is made from Zinc Alloy, in a kind of C-frame design, with a heel made from leather and trim work that gives a bit of a masculine futuristic feel to it. It’s a quality build with no signs of wear, and seems to be quite hard wearing, even from the occasional drop, I’m seeing no marks on the paintwork at all.

Up top is your Pod recess, with a magnetic ring connection inside and 3 power connectors in the centre providing power to the coil. Below is the airflow adjustment slider, that opens up vents in the side slots allowing air into the chamber below the Pod.

The front of the device sports a full panel button, for easy firing that also houses the full colour display, and adjustment buttons below it. I really like this as you don’t have to go hunting for a button to fire, just grip the device in your hand and squeeze.

Last but not least is your USB Type-C charging port below the front panel, allowing you to charge the device standing up, with a fast charge rating of 5V @ 1.7A.

The POD

The Pods for the Sensis are similar to Voopoo Drag S/X pods, being round and connecting via a ring inside the device. This allows you to pop the Pod on top of the device easily with no real orientation. You can also spin it 360 degrees, and it will always connect.

One defining feature of the Sensis is the Glass Pod. Glass has historically been the preferred substrate for tanks, with some plastics leaching and not washing particular flavours out easily. With a glass tank, you can be sure when changing flavours, you won’t have any residual notes of the previous flavour in there. The glass pod for the Sensis uses a stainless steel base, friction fit together with a silicone seal to make sure you don’t get any leaking.

One drawback of this Pod is that it will hold 3ml of e-liquid which is not huge, but a decent size for what it is, you’ll need to refill more often than other Pods.

Up top you have a 510 drip tip, which I believe is made from delrin, you also have another drip tip in the package better suited to mouth to lung vaping if that’s what floats you’re boat, a nice addition by Innokin.

Just like many other Pods, the coils push in from below. They make a good seal and are easily swapped out.

The fill port for the Sensis Pod is underneath, so you’ll need to remove the Pod in order to fill it. It’s hidden behind a silicone plug, that when removed reveals a reasonable sized fill port. You’ll be able to fit most bottle nozzles into this fill port, but it can be somewhat awkward, due to the smaller size of the fill port. I’ve found that I’ve really needed to push the nozzle right into the Pod in order to fill it cleanly, and not get back pressure pushing eliquid back out through the hole. This is something that could have worked better with a slightly larger fill port, that allows air to escape better while filling.

The 510 Adapter

Innokin also include in the box, a 510 adapter for the top of the device, so that you can use your own tank on top instead of the Pod. This is a really nice addition, and gives us vapers an option, specially if you happen to run out of coils and get stuck needing to use a tank instead!

It’s solidly built, with x4 magnets on the underside, and 2 orings running around the outside, making sure your tank sits snug in the device without any movement.

I have to say, they’ve done quite well with this, and while testing, I’ve not had my tank fall away, nor be at any risk of coming away from the device. Those o-rings really make a difference and limit any sideways movement too!

The Coils

You’ll receive 2 different coils in the Sensis Kit. These coils are the very same sized coils used in the Sceptre Pod. They’re both quite small, and need to be screwed down onto an adapter in order to use.
One of the coils, Innokin have released specifically for the Sensis kit, the S-Coil, which adds to the range already available, unfortunately it will not work in the Sceptre though, due to it being too low of a resistance.

  • Innokin S Coil 0.25ohm (pre-installed)
This coil has a recommended wattage of 25-35W and stays pretty true to that. It’s designed for a more restricted DTL vape which it also does pretty well. I get a nice dense vape from this coil, and nice flavour. The bigger your airflow, the less flavour you’ll get, but fortunately you can lower the airflow easily with the adjustable airflow slider.
I did notice that the closer you get to the 35 Watt cap, the dryer the vape is, so be careful here, the 35 Watt max recommendation is no joke!
  • Innokin Sceptre S Coil 0.65ohm
The recommended wattage for this coil is 9-12W so it really is designed to be a Mouth to Lung coil. I haven’t had a lot of luck with this one, but have noticed that hitting it at the max recommended wattage, with a really dialed down airflow is best. Be careful here though, firing it for a long period with a long drag, is going to limit how long this coil lasts. Dropping wattage any lower just sees the flavour drop off and a very very cool vape.
My recommendation, use a higher nicotine than you normally would and vape it like a true MTL vape. An airier MTL vape is just not enjoyable as it’s too cool.

Airflow

The Sensis comes with adjustable airflow in the style of a slider on the back of the device. This opens up vents inside the holes in the side and allows air up through the base of the Pod. It’s a great airflow adjuster and works really well, offering anywhere from a really tight MTL vape right through to a restricted DTL airflow.

Filling

Filling the Sensis Pod can be cumbersome due to the shape of the fill port. Most bottle nozzles will fit fine, but there isn’t a lot of room around the sides, which can cause an airlock and create back pressure. I’ve found pushing the nozzle in all the way so that you can see the tip through the glass the best way, and this way you avoid the back pressure issues.

Battery

The Sensis comes with an internal 3000mah battery, which is quite a good size for this device. I’ve found it lasts me most of the day, before needing a recharge. Fortunately, you get a pretty good charge rate from the USB Type-C charge port and you’ll be fully charged in about an hour.

Another great thing, is that the Sensis has ‘pass-through’ charging, meaning you can vape while it’s charging, which is pretty handy!

Any Leaks?

As with most bottom coil Pods, I’ve experienced a little seepage with a fine film of eliquid appearing under the Pod. It’s not a flood, nor a leak, just seepage, so just keep things clean by wiping with a tissue every so often.
If you’re storing the Sensis, I’d recommend removing the Pod from the device, to avoid any excessive seeping over time.

Usage & Features

The Innokin Sensis screen is great, it’s full colour and vibrant, easily seen during the day in full sunlight, and fairly easy to read due to the font that Innokin have chosen for it. Everything is laid out pretty nicely and you can get the information you need at a glance.

As I mentioned earlier, Innokin have introduced a few new modes on the Sensis, some options that you’ve likely never seen before, and I’ll go through them in a minute individually, but here are the basic button presses you’ll need to get to them.

  • Turn On/Off = Fire button x3
  • Access menu = ‘+’ and ‘-‘ simultaneously
  • Navigate Menu = ‘+’/’-‘ and fire to select
  • Access ‘Secondary Screen’ = Fire button and + button simultaneously
  • Wattage/Voltage Adjustment Lock= Fire button and – button simultaneously
  • Adjust Power (W or V) = hold ‘+’ or ‘-‘ until the setting flashes then use ‘+’/’-‘ to adjust.
  • Change Mode= Access the menu, choose your mode then choose Wattage or Voltage
  • Reset Puff Counter= Access ‘Secondary Screen’ navigate down to and select ‘clear’

Coil + Mode

Coil+ Mode is very much a Variable Wattage mode, but the big difference, is that at the end of your puff, the Sensis will fire at 40% power for a short time in order to pre-prime your coil for your next puff. I love a nice wet vape, so this mode is great for me, and Innokin claim that it helps coils last even longer. Win win!

Refresh Mod

Refresh mode is very much like Coil+ Mode, except that you trigger it manually. Instead of applying 40% power for a short time ‘after’ a puff, you can manually do it yourself by choosing this mode. Click the button and the Sensis fires itself for a couple of seconds at 40% wattage. Is it easier than dropping your wattage to a lower setting and firing for a short time? They’re probably about the same. It is kind of cool though, and you get a feeling that the Sensis is conditioning your coil for you.

FØ Mode

FØ Mode is a completely new way of applying power to your coil. Instead of your usual wattage, FØ Mode allows you to change the frequency of your power, using AC (alternating current). This reminds me of some devices that have PWM Pulse width modulation where they constantly fire in a pulse in order to provide a smooth and regulated power supply. FØ basically allows you to adjust the frequency of these pulses, actively changing the way the Sensis vapes.
It’s an interesting concept and quite frankly, works really well. Combined with wattage adjustment, and airflow, FØ Mode allows you to really dial in exactly how smooth your vape is as well as how dense the vapour becomes.

This mode is hidden out of the box, and you will get access to it after a certain amount of time, but Innokin have also released an unlock code that you can use if you want it straight away.

Go to the mode selection screen and choose F0, then follow the prompts, when asked use the button combination ++-+-+P (where P is power or the fire bar)

Pros:

  • Plenty of adjustments
  • Great battery life
  • Flavour is on point
  • Excellent Innovation
  • Excellent build quality
  • Glass POD!

Cons:

  • Needs higher power coil
  • Capped at 40 Watts

Where to Buy:

If you’re looking to stock the Aspire BP60, head on over to Easy Vape Distribution who are distributors for Aspire. Otherwise if you’re keen to buy one yourself, you can pick them up directly through Innokin for about the $65 USD price point.

Conclusion

All in all, Innokin have released quite a unique bit of kit here, I love the innovation of the different modes, and have been having a great time trying out the F0 (frequency mode) and adjusting the pulse that it provides.
The Refresh, and Coil+ features are well thought out and while some might find them a little gimmicky, I think they work well and do make a difference.

As always I do have a few bug bears that I wasn’t happy with, the 40 Watt power cap really is limiting, and I wish that they’d provided a coil that could fire above the 33ish Watt mark without drying out.
The fill port in the pod is far too small, and tends to get back pressure easily when filling, a slightly larger hole would work wonders.

That is really about it, the rest of the device works as advertised, and I have to admit, even surpasses expectations.
The Innokin Sensis, while being locked down to a below 40 Watt cap, does actually put out a really nice dense vape, one that would rival other devices that run at a higher wattage.

Would I recommend it? Despite the cons that I’ve listed, sure, it’s a well thought out device, with some innovative features, and best of all it’s Innokin, you’re looking at excellent build quality and a top notch product.

If under 40 Watts is your vaping preference, this will make a nice addition to your collection!

Great work on this Innokin!
