The Review

As you can see, the Vaporesso Osmall is super small, super simple, and I’ll cut straight to it, a fantastic little bit of kit for what it is.

There are a lot of things about this device that really impress. From it’s extra low price point, to it’s tiny size, very light weight and impressive vape, this unassuming little device gets back to basics, and does a bloody great job of them.

The Main Body

The main body of the Osmall, is completely plastic, which plays a huge part in how light this little thing is. It’s seriously a featherweight.
At a tiny 84.2mm x 26.5mm, with a weight of 24grams its small enough and light enough to slip into your jean’s pocket, and forget that it’s even there!

Even though the main body is plastic, Vaporesso have added an etched design to it that not only helps with grip, but also makes this a little more attractive. I think this adds a lot to the final look, but it does still feel a little on the cheap side. I reckon a rubberised coating, while adding a couple of grams to the weight might have given this a little more of a quality feel.

From the top down, you’ll notice the POD fits into the main body and is held there by 2 decent sized magnets. There isn’t a huge click to the connection when you pop the POD in, but it’s enough to hold the POD in place, even if you drop the device. I love magnetic POD connections over clips, that ‘snap’ when you put the POD in is just so satisfying!

You’ll find zero buttons on the Osmall, being an auto-draw firing device, it’s super simple to use. This also means that there is no power on/off button, which is a little bit of a let down. (This might be a deal killer for some of you who prefer to make sure your device is off before putting it into your pocket)

There’s a tiny white led on the front of the main body, (yes you’ll likely have to hunt for it, it’s so small!). It’s hidden well in the etching of the device itself, and lights up when you take a pull, or charge the device.

On the bottom, you have your charge port, it’s a micro USB port, which would have been nice to be a USB Type C, but no real complaints here, it does a good job of charging.

The POD

The POD is of quite a good design, it’s really easy to see your liquid levels as well as fill. You have a fill port on the side under a silicone plug, and two largish contacts at the bottom to make sure you get a great connection to the main body.

The duck bill design of the mouth piece is really comfortable when vaping, and has a really nice restricted Mouth to Lung airflow.

Actually this is probably the real selling point of this device. The airflow.
This is not one of those devices with a looser Mouth to Lung pull, this is your genuine, very restricted Mouth to Lung airflow that seasoned vapers come to expect when you market something as such.

Inside the POD is a 1.2ohm coil, (perfect for MTL) which is wrapped in flax cotton, to make sure your POD lasts as long as possible. Vaporesso have done a fantastic job here, I’d normally complain that only one POD was supplied with my tester, but so far this POD has been going for 2-3 weeks and it’s still going strong. (It still would have been nice to get a backup POD in the pack though)

Battery

The internal battery that is inside of the main body is quite small, 350mAh in fact, so you’re not going to get too far without charging. This is quite a low powered device however, and combined with the 1.2ohm coil in the POD, ensures you have enough battery to last you most of the day.
I’ve had varying results with this battery, I know Vaporesso say that it has a constant voltage, but I have noticed a drop off in vapor as well as how well the auto-draw works as the battery is getting flatter. Being a low powered device, you notice these things more.

Regardless, I managed to get anywhere from 4 hours to a full day out of a charge, and full charge only took just under an hour.

Airflow and Autodraw

As mentioned earlier, this is probably one of the more impressive features. This is a true MTL POD. This champion doesn’t just pretend to be MTL, and then give you a loose pull. This has quite a tight restricted draw to it, which will certainly make a few of the MTL purists out there happy.

It’s a nice smooth draw, without any turbulence.

The Auto-draw works really well too, it’s responsive with minimal delay, and I haven’t experienced any non-fires even when the battery is on the low side. If every MTL POD could have this kind of airflow, I’d be a very happy man!

Filling

Filling is as easy as any other modern POD system. Remove the POD from the device, hold side up so that the silicone plug is upright, peel it back to expose the fill hole, and fill.

You might need to move the pod around a little to get that last bit of juice in there, but patience will get you there.

Any Leaks?

A little bit. I’ve only really noticed it during temperature changes, it’s nearly Winter here, so carrying this in a warm pocket leaves a few small drops under the POD, and only on a slightly used POD. I initially had zero leakage when the POD was brand new.

The tiny bit of leaking is not an issue however. It doesn’t affect the vape, connection and won’t get down into the battery section easily.

Usage

Really easy, straight out of the box. Fill your POD, let it sit for a bit, put the POD in and vape.

Pros:

  • Super simple
  • Small
  • Lightweight
  • Great flavour
  • Excellent restricted MTL airflow
  • Long lasting POD
  • Autodraw
  • Passthrough vaping (can vape while charging)
  • Comfortable and erganomic to hold
  • Great price point

Cons:

  • Light seepage from coil
  • Only comes with one POD
  • Tiny battery
  • Feels a little cheap

Conclusion

This little fella has been in my pocket constantly over the last few weeks, and it’s holding up well. Obviously being a lower powered device, I’ve changed up the e-liquid that I usually use, and been running 25mg Nicotine Salts through it. I’ve even spent a few days solely using it and nothing else, and it has performed exceptionally well.

Remember this is a low powered device, so might feel weak on power to higher wattage users, you’ll need to up your nicotine level when using this.

I’m completely content with the draw, (I’m usually not happy with the supposed MTL airflow many PODs claim to have) the Vaporesso Osmall has a nice tight and also responsive auto-draw that activates straight away with no delays.

I only have a few issues, and I’m being really really picky by even mentioning them. I’d have loved this to have a little more power. Perhaps offer a POD with 0.8ohm or even 1.0ohm coil. Even a stainless steel coil option for those who want just that little bit extra.

The battery is small. 350mAH does ok in this because it’s quite low powered, but Vaporesso would have knocked it out of the park if the battery were a little bigger, so you could get double the run time out of it.

Vaporesso, you’ve done a wonderful job of changing things up and coming out with a cheap and cheerful device, that not only has great flavour but is small, lightweight and just simply works as it should.

This is a fantastic little POD device to stick in your pocket when you’re out and about!

Where to Buy:

You can pick the Vaporesso Osmall POD kit up at Vapoureyes for $24.95 AU, this makes it such a bargain price, it’s worth picking one up just to keep in your pocket as a spare vape!
