Hardware Review: Minifit by JustFog

I’d had my eye on this little pod device for a long while. I noticed it’s miniature size when it came out, and thought, “What a fantastic backup vape that would make!”. I’d all but forgotten about it because as with most things, if it’s too good to be true, it probably isn’t.

Fast forward a month and I noticed a few people mentioning it on forums, reddit, facebook and figured what the hell, I’d give it a go.

I was totally not prepared for exactly how small this thing is. It really is miniscule, about the size of your standard USB memory stick. You really could put this on your keys and it would dwarf your car’s key fob!

The other thing I wasn’t prepared for, was the vape. I’d gotten used to most pod devices only putting out a wisp of vapour, after all it’s all they could muster on the lower wattage scale, but the minifit, the vapour amount is superb. It’s obviously not going to win any cloud competitions, it won’t even stand up to your usual sub-ohm devices, but for the 3.4V that it uses, you’ll get a nice satisfying hit from it.

This has absolutely become my backup device, everywhere I go, and is now often my only mod when out and about at functions (weddings etc..) where I cannot get away with a lot in my pockets.

The Review

The Justfog Minifit is a tiny, I can’t overstate this, an incredibly small and portable pod system designed for vapers on the go or simply looking for an easy to use device.

Keeping things simple, the Minifit uses a single one button design, that fires at a constant 3.4 Volts from it’s 370mah built in battery.
With 4 click on/off and Short Circuit protection, this little beast charges so very quickly from it’s micro USB port, you’ll be on your way in no time.

The POD

These pods are great. Holding 1.5ml of eliquid, you won’t be able to go all day, but they are very easy to refill, and the 1.6ohm coil will give you quite a good vape.

The POD that my kit was shipped with, unfortunately had issues with the bottom piece not sealing, causing leaking issues, however, since I’ve changed to a secondary POD, purchased in another pack, I have had no such problems, and not a drop of leaking, which is fantastic.

The Main Body

The Minifit features a lightweight and compact aluminum construction design. It’s strong enough to take what life throws at it, and sleek enough to slip away in your pocket. In fact this thing is so small (USB thumb drive size) that I’ve lost it and recovered it several times over. I even lost my original one for good somewhere and had to re-order another!!

The POD pulls away fairly easily with a little persistence, of course you don’t want it coming apart in your pocket, and goes back in with a decisive click.

One thing I would have liked to have on this is just a small hole, or clip so that I could attach a lanyard to it. I will have to have a closer look and see if I can drill a small hole somewhere in it to accomplish this.

Usage

Dead easy to use. 4 clicks of the button to turn it on, and push the button again to fire. It really is simple.

The vape from this little device is quite a surprise, it’s a smooth constant voltage, where the voltage stays the same no matter how low your battery gets. It’s somewhere between an open MTL draw, and a very restricted Direct lung draw, I’m finding doing a MTL double puff works best for me.

The Button

The plastic button is largish, and easy to find when you’re not looking, which also means that it’s easy to fire when in your pocket, so you’d better make sure to turn it off if you’re putting it in your pocket with tightish pants.

It has a nice clickable feel to it, without it being overly noisy.

Filling

To fill these pods, you have to remove them from the main body, tip them upside down and open the fill cover. It’s a small plastic panel on the underside that you flip up and you’ll easily spot the little divot where you can put your fingernail in order to get a good grip on it.

There’s 2 adjacent fill ports, one you use to fill, while the other balances the air pressure, so that you aren’t making a mess when filling. The fill port is large enough for your usual needle tip dispenser that comes on chubby gorilla bottles, and having that extra adjacent port to let the air out as you fill, really does help to keep the mess down.

Once you’ve filled it, flip the cover back on, and click the pod in place, you’re ready to roll!

Charging

You’ll charge this little 350mah battery via micro USB. It’s really quick to charge, from empty to full, took mine just over an hour, although I don’t really monitor it.

When charging, the little white charge light comes on, and disappears when it is charged.

There also 3 battery level lights on the front, that tell you how much charge you have left in your battery.

– 3 Lights = Full charge
– 2 Lights = 65% charge
-1 Light = 35% and under

Pros:

  • Lightweight
  • Great build quality
  • Nice finish and feel in the hand
  • Really tiny
  • Short circuit protection
  • Nice click to the button
  • Fast Charging
  • Cheap

Cons:

  • You may get a POD that does not seal properly
  • Easy to lose!

Conclusion

All in all this is quite an impressive little device. Perfect for out and about, you can slip it in the pocket and probably forget it’s even there!

If you’re looking for something small and compact, that provides a great vape for when you’re on the move, you can’t go past this one!
