Hardware Review: Dyadic 200W Variable Wattage Squonk Mod by Wotofo
I am completely out of my element here folks. If you know me, you’ll also know that I’m a bit of a mad squonker. I love my bottom feed devices, and more often than not, will be using a single battery, small mechanical squonk with a single coil rda on top. I’m a flavour chaser, and that setup suits me really well. I am always up for a challenge though!
This week, caution has been thrown to the wind, and I’ve been running with the big boys! A dual battery 5W – 200W Squonk mod!
Wotofo x Tony B’s newest collaboration, the 200W Dyadic Squonk mod to be more precise!

The Review
So we all know Wotofo, they’re pretty great at coming up with the goods, they’re well known for their quality hardware, they’re probably best known for their earlier “Freakshow” RDA, their “Serpent” RTA’s and their later released “Recurve” RDA. They’ve also pumped out some popular mods such as the “Recurve” Squonk, and “Stentorian Ram BF” Squonk.
Wotofo have teamed up with “Tony B”, the man behind the “Pulse” range of squonk mods in this latest venture. This time around they’ve brought a dual battery, 200Watt squonk mod to the table!
This new mod is called the Dyadic (meaning: being of a group of two) and I’ve got my mitts on the black version as you can see from the images above.
Let’s not muck around, we’ll get on with the review!
Main Body
The Wotofo Dyadic 200W Squonk mod is quite a compact mod for the punch it packs, made from quality materials, this feels sturdy, substantial, yet it’s really comfortable in the hand.
It adopts an oval shaped design, with 510 and squonk bottle on one end of the device and dual battery bays in the other.
The 3 piece design consists of the main body, which is of zinc alloy and houses all of the good stuff, with 2 side panels that press fit onto each end of the mod, basically covers for both the battery bays and the squonk bottle.
The covers are comfy, with a velvet rubberised coating, they’re strong, smooth and have a really nice feel in the hand. That little bit of extra grip isn’t going to hurt either, you’ll be less likely to have it slip from your hand.
This is a side button fire. Much like a lot of newer mods coming out, it’s designed to be fired with the thumb while holding in your right hand, leaving your index/middle fingers available to squeeze the bottle at the front to prime your juice. I love this, it’s a cool idea, as long as you’re right handed 🙂
Between the two end covers, on the inside, you’ll find the main display. Specifically, a super impressive TFT 0.96Inch Colour Screen, with a lovely sharp display. Above this is the nice large side fire button, and below it, you’ll find the up and down buttons where you can control your wattage. Below those even further is a micro USB port, that, “YES”, you can charge your device with. It’s not just for updates.
Display and function
As mentioned earlier, the display is a 0.96 inch Colour TFT Screen, it’s nice and bright, with a real crispness to it. It’s actually quite pretty to look at.
You’ve got the usual suspects on there, mode, wattage, resistance, voltage, and battery bars, all very easy to read, at a quick glance.
Operating this beast is fairly simple, the chip used doesn’t have a lot of options, it’s 5x clicks of the fire button to turn it off/on, pressing the up and down (+ and -) buttons at the same time lock and unlock all buttons, but there is one more thing this mod does, and I love it.
Punching the firing button and the up button (+) can flick this device between 3 different modes. Standard, Powerful and Powerful +.
Standard Mode (Green): This is your everyday run of the mill setting, where the mod will fire at the wattage setting you have it on.
Powerful Mode (Orange): It’s the same as ‘standard mode’, but the device will actually throw and extra 10 Watts through for the first 2 seconds of firing, helping with ramp up if you’ve got some beefy coils in there.
Powerful + Mode (Red): This is the same as ‘standard mode’ except this time you get an extra 15 Watts for the first 2 seconds, again helping to fire up those big coil builds.
Battery Bay
This is a two battery mod, and fitting two batteries as well as a squonk bottle into one compact unit couldnt have been easy! The clever solution Wotofo have come up with sees the two battery bays behind one of the end panels slightly staggered, to maximise the small amount of room in there.
Sometimes the second battery can be difficult to get out, but that isn’t an issue, you can simply take off the panel from the squonk bottle end, and their is access there to push the second battery out with your finger!
The terminals are top notch, with just enough tension in there to hold the batteries without denting them, and the positive and negative terminal indicators are easy to see. You’ve even got a ribbon in here to make sure you can get those two batteries out in a hurry when switching out!
Squonk System
This is one cool squonk system. Taking off one end panel, not only reveals a squonk bottle that you can remove from the device, unscrew the cap and fill, but you can even fill it in-situe. Yep that’s right, Wotofo have included a silicone grommet that you can remove from the side of the bottle’s top cap, and simply fill from there. I love this idea, and it’s been executed quite well too, with minimal spillage occuring and the silicone holding eliquid quite well.
The silicone bottle is your usual dark tinted bottle, with hard cap on top. You do get another lighter silicone bottle in the box though, which I thought was a nice addition, for those who have trouble seeing through dark tint.
The 510
Wotofo have come up with a unique way to combat issues with RDA’s getting stuck onto this mod. If you look closely, the 510 female connection is immediately surrounded by a heat resistant plastic, before then continuing on with the steel top of the mod. This plastic is every so slightly raised above the top of the mod, allowing the RDA to get screwed down onto it, without getting firmly seated on the metal. Easy on, easy off!
Overall Fit and Finish
The overall fit and finish of this mod is wonderful. The quality of parts, and the way they come together all have pretty tight tolerances and are of a professional fit.
The feel of the velvet rubber on the side panels is really nice, it’s soft and helps things feel a little more secure, like “this thing is definitely not slipping out of my hand!”. What would happen if it did however? I’m not confident that those side panels would hold up to too much of a beating. Drop this mod, and side panels and likely batteries are all going to go flying in every direction.
Pros:
- Compact size for a dual battery squonk
- Nice feel in the hand
- Easy fill squonk bottle (no need to remove cap)
- A good range of wattage
- Fast firing
Cons:
- No Temperature control
- No advanced chip functions
- If dropped, not very shock resistant
- Can be difficult to see when refilling if using the darker bottle.
Conclusion
I’ve enjoyed using this beast very much, and even though it’s not quite something I’d use on an everyday basis, I found myself getting quite fond of the battery life and the decent sized bottle in this mod. Change batteries once per day, and fill up with eliquid once a day. Brilliant!
The physical shape and operation of this mod has worked very well for me being right handed. Switching over to the left, you’re obviously going to have to compromise a little, by swinging the mod around to squeeze the squonk bottle, operating the fire button isn’t an issue though.
This does have limitations. It’s a basic variable wattage mod, I’d have liked to have seen temperature control in this one, for Stainless Steel builds.
Otherwise, it’s a very well built compact, 2 battery mod, that doesn’t over complicate.
