Geekvape G18 Review

Geekvape G18 Review

There’s been a lot of new stuff coming out lately. Not just in Podland either, there’s been a good range of products getting released lately, from full kits, to RTA’s to pods, to ‘all in ones’, and everything in between.
One thing we haven’t seen a lot of lately however is stick mods, or AIO’s focused on the beginner vaper.

Read on to find out about the Geekvape G18 kit!

Big thanks goes to Vapoureyes, for sending this through for me to review!

General Info

This beginner friendly kit, while not technically really an “all-in-one” device, does resemble one, and if I’m honest, gives the user a little more flexibility than a real “AIO”. Created by Geekvape, the G18 is a cylindrical stick kit with the main battery compartment and top tank easily separated by it’s 510 connection, just like many other Mod+Tank combos.
Very clearly reminiscent of the Kanger and Innokin T18 kits of old, this one button, pocket friendly device is the perfect setup for those just getting started in vaping.

All specifications lead to a more Mouth to Lung orientated device, with it’s 1300mah built in battery, 1.2ohm and 1.8ohm coils, smaller 2ml e-liquid capacity and general sleek/slimline design.

The Body

As mentioned earlier the actual Mod itself, or body of the device, is cylindrical in shape, basically like a skinny tube mod. It’s very lightweight and comfortable to hold, and comes in a variety of colours. I received the woodgrain design, which has a nice satin finish to it so that fingerprints aren’t a problem.

It’s a lower power offering than many other internal battery mods on the market these days with 3 different power modes, pushing out 3.1/3.4/3.7 Volts respectively, with a range of between around 8-12 Watts. That’s not a lot of power, but this is a beginner’s device first and foremost, so is more suitable for those wanting to run either Nicotine salts or higher concentrated nicotine.

Up top is a 510 connection, it’s spring loaded so great to use for other MTL tanks should you want to. On the side is a sole fire button that also acts as the on/off switch, and underneath is a USB Type C port for charging the internal battery.

The Tank

The tank on the G18 is a bit of an unusual offering being a metal base with plastic tank and drip tip, that also acts as the cap for the fill port. It holds around 2mls of e-liquid, and takes Geekvape’s G series coils, which simply push home into the recess after you’ve unscrewed the base for easy coil changes.

You’ve got an adjustable airflow ring around the base of the tank, that locks in giving you 3 different single airflow options to choose from, which range from quite a loose and open Mouth to lung draw right down to a tight Mouth to lung draw when fully closed.

The fill port, which is revealed when unscrewing the clear drip tip has 2 small holes on either side of the centre, that you can push your e-liquid nozzle against to fill the tank, the other is an air release valve, on whichever side you’re not filling with, to make sure you can fill quite quickly. Even though your bottle nozzle wont fit into the fill ports, it is still a lightning fast fill, and you just need to add a little pressure to ensure no spillage.

The tank does a decent job, and has some good flavour. It’s far from a flavour machine but it gets the job done. I have noticed a little spit-back through the mouthpiece when the tank has been left for a little while, due to the wicking soaking up e-liquid significantly while in standby.

Airflow

The airflow options here are few, but are at some common sizes. There are only 3 different sized single airflow hole settings going from a loose MTL to a restricted DTL style airflow. You can get a really tight MTL vape from this by closing the airflow ring completely, which is a nice touch. This airflow ring will fall away from the tank if you’re not careful, so don’t lose it!

The Power adjustment

The single button on the front of the device acts as your fire button, your on/off control, and your power setting adjustment. There are 3 power settings Red/Blue/Green, that can be changed by clicking the button 3 times consecutively. You won’t notice a significant difference between the settings, but they work out to being 3.1V/3.4V/3.7V outputs.

Battery

The USB Type C port on the base of the tube is where you’ll charge your 1300mah internal battery. You won’t get a super fast charge out of this, as the charge rate works out to be about 5V / 0.7A. It does charge pretty quickly though, considering the smaller battery, and due to the higher resistance coils, you’ll get a good day or so of power out of it without needing to charge anyway.

Filling

As mentioned earlier, filling the tank is done from the top once you’ve unscrewed the clear plastic drip tip. Here you’ll find two small holes on either side of the centre that act as fill ports and air valve for fast filling any time. Your eliquid nozzle won’t fit into the fill ports, but pushing down with a bit of pressure will get you filled quite quickly with no mess at all.

To note: Keep an eye on the top drip tip as it’s easily knocked out of thread, or easy to cross thread which will cause you a leak if it happens. Get it on straight and tight for best results.

Any Leaks?

I did experience some leaking one time, but that was due to the drip tip not being screwed on straight. Otherwise this tank is leak free.

Pros:

  • Small and lightweight
  • Takes G Series coils
  • Good flavour
  • Great MTL options
  • Easy to use
  • Easy to fill

Cons:

  • A little low powered
  • Charging isn’t super fast
  • A little gurgling and spit back at times

Where to Buy:

Vapoureyes sent me this through for review, so they’ll get the plug today. Head on over to their Aussie online vape store to pick the G18 up for around the $35 AUD mark. They’ve got all the colours, and also stock the replacement coils for this baby. Alternatively, you can also try their NZ online vape store if you’re looking to purchase from there too.

Conclusion

All in all, this is quite a good little starter kit. There’s not a lot that can go wrong, and it’s simple and straight forward to operate. It is targeted toward the beginner so don’t expect too many bells and whistles, but mouth to lung vapers are going to appreciate this more than cloud chasers. Actually, the stick/mod section of the kit is perfect as a base for any other MTL tanks you might have for a lightweight, low voltage alternative to your usual devices.

The tank lets things down a little, but it’s usable, and puts out some good flavour. Not amazing, but a good start for a beginner, plus it takes Geekvape’s G series removeable coils which is nice.

Overall, a cheap and cheerful little MTL vape stick to throw into the pocket for a night out. Nice work Geekvape!
