eLiquid Review: Sunset Cola by Sydney Vape Co

eLiquid Review: Sunset Cola by Sydney Vape Co

Welcome back again for another review from the Sydney Vape Co, new and improved range of eliquids.

So far we’ve gone through mostly fruits, with the exception of “Nonna’s Tiramisu”, and I’m noticing a little trend. This time around SVC seem to have focused on making their profiles that little bit more complex, and that little bit brighter in using some key flavours to help bring the profiles out a more and create some more dimension.

Of course, I have another for you all today, let’s see if this trend continues!

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Sunset Cola” from Sydney Vape Co.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

[From the website]
“Need to cool down? Sit back, relax and enjoy the sunset after a long, hard day with a refreshing cherry cola splashed with pineapple, lime and crunchy ice.”

The Review

Cola flavours are difficult. Not only difficult to get right, but difficult to get away from that cola gummy candy feel, and to change up enough to stand out among the many others already in the market.

Sydney Vape Co have obviously noticed this too, because their “Sunset Cola” is a smooth blend of gummy cola, bright pineapple and lime with a base note of cherry coming through the mix.

“Sunset Cola brings some extra brightness to the syrupy cola with sharp and tart lime and pineapple, and an extra kick in the profile with the background cherry”

Individual Notes

Lets start with the cola. This is fundamentally a chewy cola bottle profile, it’s syrupy and sweet, with that noticeable gummy note lingering in the background.

A little cherry has been added, to help pull that cola base into a slightly more complex profile. While there, the cherry is not very noticeable, more a background note added to help this one along and create a more rounded finish.

Pineapple is here also. The very same pineapple you’ll find in most of Sydney Vape Co’s other flavours. It’s a bright pineapple with a slight over-ripeness to it, brought in to add a taller note to the cola. Sweet and tart at the same time, this warmer pineapple blends well with the cola adding even more dimension.

There certainly is a Lime element to this too. Bolstering the pineapple, this ‘almost’ key lime adds a light acidic note and also lifts things up a little.

What cola would be complete without some kind of cooling to it. The chill in this flavour is not overdone at all, it’s just the smallest amount of menthol that helps to make sure you’re getting a cold cola from this flavour, and not a warm syrupy cola from a takeaway cup!

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, I instantly get that familiar cola bottles flavour, as always it’s light at this point, but absolutely the prominent note and main flavour. It’s sugary sweet, vanilla and cola, very syrupy and totally of that take out cola vibe. As the inhale continues, a few of the other fruit notes begin to come through, the duller, taller pineapple links well with the existing cola, bridging the cola and lime really well, which brightens things up quite a lot.

Everything gets to a head at the top of the inhale, the syrupy cola notes are well established, while the lime and pineapple work to stretch out the profile, and pull it up from it’s usual lower flavour profile.

As you exhale, the menthol slowly works it’s way in cooling down the whole thing, and changing the profile from a warmer, syrupy cola, to a lighter chilled one. It still has that cola bottles or gummy cola flavour to it, but much lighter than the inhale, with the lime and pineapple still providing the taller notes.

This all continues on right through to the exhale, where everything more or less blends together in a seamless, and chilled fruity cola.

Final thoughts

This one is pretty good. It still has that gummy cola feel, like so many others, but I feel as though SVC have made a big effort with the additional taller notes, in order to help pull the usual syrupy cola out from it’s sugary base profile, and lighten things up.

Is it spectacular? Would I change anything? It’s a good juice, a reasonably accurate cola, with a few extras added to help get it across the line, but it’s not ground-breaking nor the best cola I’ve ever had.
If it were my recipe, I’d be trying my best to get away from that ‘gummy cola’ feel and more toward a sharper, even brighter fizz rather than the syrupy profile that it has going on.

All in all though, this is a good flavour, one that cola lovers will appreciate, and something to get stuck into, to see how these complimentary flavours work with the cola!

Good work guys!

Presentation:

As always, Sydney Vape Co, have some impressive presentation. Each bottle comes in it’s own similarly branded box. I received 30ml clear Chubby Gorilla style bottles with black child-proof caps, tamper proof ring-seal, and needle tip dispenser.

The labelling is comprehensive with juice name, respective imagery and company logo front and centre. General warnings, ingredients, bottle size, and even flavour profile are printed on the colour coded matt finish labels.

Most impressive of all is the use of “Born on” and “Batch Number” stamps. This is a great addition to any label, and builds confidence, letting the consumer know how old their bottle of juice really is.

If you haven’t seen them yet, SVC also have some fancy pants sample boxes available, so that you can try all of their flavours in smaller bottles, the whole set is only $59.99 which is some pretty great value!
