eLiquid Review 509: Peori by Wild Kraken

eLiquid Review 509: Peori by Wild Kraken

This week something very new is on my radar. If you’re an Australian vaper, you would have seen pictures of this range of eliquids all over Facebook on their release.

Brought to you by the same genius that created Secret Bunker Vapour and it’s high scoring Red Bull flavours “Red Bee” and “Aqua Bee”, comes Wild Kraken!

This fruity trio of flavours promises to tickle your fancy. I know for a fact that a painstaking amount of time and effort has gone into bringing you this range, so let’s take a look at the first of the 3!

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Peori” from Wild Kraken.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

[From the website]
“Loading up your wicks with this wild juice, your taste buds will be smashed with refreshing citrus blood orange with just the right amount of sweetness to it. On the exhale you will be fare-welled with icy cool peaches.”

The Review

I find it interesting that I haven’t come across many “Blood Orange” flavours over the years. I’ve seen a couple, but that’s a really small amount of options for what I’d imagine would be a popular flavour. There are plenty of oranges, but again, not as many as I would have thought.

I have a theory about this. Orange is really difficult to make into an artificial flavour. It comes across as sharp and citric, and when it doesn’t, it provides very little flavour at all. Unfortunately it’s just not a very strong or intense flavour when in concentrate form.

Keeping this in mind, Wild Kraken have done a wonderful job with “Peori”, pulling the best parts of a blood orange out and bolstering them with juicy peach in an effort to boost that all important flavour intensity.

While not the most intense flavour by a long shot, and quite mild compared to other fruits mixes, this tangy blood orange is juicy as well as acidically sweet, with a mild and surprisingly fitting peach and chilled finish.

Individual Notes

The blood orange in this flavour is sweet, yet acidic and tart with natural citrus notes and a little bitterness. It is a slightly shallow flavour, the richness mostly coming from the more raspberry like profile.

The peach in this is juicy. Mainly noticeable on the exhale, it provides a slightly gritty feel also and gives this flavour additional body and dimension. A really good match for the orange actually.

There is a little chill in this flavour, although it’s pretty minor. You won’t be clenching at your throat from an icy blast, instead, it’s a pleasant chill just to enhance the orange and peach.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, I notice the orange straight away, its a juicy orange, very sweet, yet a little acidic. With the orange is a deeper flavour, very much like a cranberry with a little sweetness and bitterness to it.
This blend is the primary flavour on the inhale right through until just before the peak, where the orange seems to thin out a little.

At the peak of the inhale, the peach appears, lightly at first. It comes across as a juicy peach flesh, not overly strong, but increases as you turn into the exhale. During the exhale, I notice a little bitterness from the (cranberry?) coming through the orange and the peach but quickly disappearing as a little textural change happens. As the peach reaches it’s peak, there is a little dryness, a slight powdery feel to the exhale, until it drops away again. It’s only a brief moment but its there, and I can’t help thinking that this is caused by the sudden intensity of the peach.

Either way it’s short lived, as the peach falls back again, allowing the sweet blood orange to pull to the front, finishing off the end of the vape with a little chill (ws23) on it’s way through.

Final thoughts

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, very few can make orange work, it usually ends up being of wavering intensity and just does not have the punch it needs. Peori is a little different. While there is definitely the feeling that this could have had more impact, been a little stronger or intense, it does have quite a complex feel to it, it’s bold and unique.

The Blood Orange is a nice change up, and despite my protesting above, does indeed add a little depth, dimension and intensity. I’m at a complete loss as to which flavours were added to the orange to create the “Blood Orange” feel, but I have a few suspects (raspberry/cranberry) of which I’m leaning toward the Cranberry as I notice a little bitterness in there.

A really nice touch to this flavour was the Peach. I never would have put this together with orange and expected them to work, but they do, and seamlessly. The peach really adds a nice backdrop and helps to add some more body to this flavour, where just the blood orange might have been a little flat.

That tiny bit of chill factor on the tail end of the vape, also adds to the overall feel of the flavour.

A great job on a unique flavour! Well done guys!

I love the branding of this one, the trademark blue labels as well as matching blue bottle caps look great! There is a needle tip dispensor so you can get that nozzle right in there even on difficult to fill tanks.

The labels are a striking light blue with the Kraken background as well as the bold “Wild Kraken” brand front and centre. The juice flavours and name are on the label toward the bottom and in case you missed that, they also put an additional sticker on the label, colour dependant on the flavour.
