eLiquid Review 507: Lady Jelly Gonutz from Vintage Cloud Co

eLiquid Review 507: Lady Jelly Gonutz from Vintage Cloud Co

I’ve been doing a lot of fruits and menthols lately, so lets get stuck into something a little more desserty today. This next juice is also from Vintage Vape Co, just like the previous few reviews, but instead of sweet and fruity, I’m indulging in a bold, thick dessert, namely a raspberry jam filled donut!

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Lady Jelly Gonutz” from Vintage Cloud Co.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

[From the website]
“A beaut of a raspberry jam filled donut!”

The Review

There’s so much that can go wrong with a dessert flavour, especially a doughnut because it has a certain kind of bakery feel, more doughy, less cake. I’m pleased to say that Vintage Cloud co have done this profile justice with their near spot on recipe!

“Lady Jelly Gonutz” is a Sweet doughy donut, not really glazed, more of a sugarless berlina, with a sweet and sticky raspberry jam filling.

Individual Notes

The bakery in this is very doughy, with no cake batter in sight, this is a smooth, warm dough a perfect blend for a donut profile. It’s hard to tell if there is extra cinnamon here or not, or it is just the concentrate used that gives that real doughy cinnamon main note.
I’ve a feeling there’s a touch of Graham cracker here too, but the dough far out-flavours the graham cracker if it is here, purely there for additional complexity.
Foot note: I’m also finding there is a bit of a bavarian cream taste over the top of the dough. It’s not overbearing or dominating, just a little bit of extra richness that adds to the overall flavour.

The raspberry is quite nice, its a rounded and sweet profile, a lower note but with a sweeter gummy feel to it bringing up the brightness with a more syrupy nature to it, making sure the raspberry does not get lost in all of the bakery note. That gummy note, sort of gives this an extra cherry feel, or perhaps rose candy, a little more medicinal, but not overly so.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, its the dough all the way. It starts off light and doughy, like a raw dough, and progressively gets a more baked flavour as the inhale continues.
Light cinnamon and sweetness not quite in a sugar consistency are also present with the dough, giving it quite a genuine donut profile.

At the height of the inhale is where you’ll notice the bavarian cream, its a little bit of richness at the peak of the dough, and you might only notice it on a really wet wick, but it is there in small amounts adding to the overall texture and layering of the dough.

Over to the exhale, this is where the raspberry comes in. Through the sweet doughy bakery, the raspberry oozes through, very much like a sauce or a jam, thick and syrupy with a little bit of a jelly or gumminess to it.

The raspberry is sweet at first, but I notice that there is also a little bit of a cherry note to it, a little medicinal, cherry, or even rose candy. It adds a little bite to the jam, which is quite interesting, and gives it more of a gummy feel than a syrup or a traditional jam. Think jam jelly and you’ve got the idea.

Once you’ve noticed the raspberry and it’s full depth, it then falls back into the dough, leaving an evenly blended raspberry jam/doughy donut for the rest of the exhale.

Final thoughts

This is an interesting take on the popular jam filled berlina, or raspberry donut. Not everyone will appreciate the extra lengths gone into making the raspberry seem like a jelly or a gummy, but I think it helps with the texture and is a great idea.

I do note that the dough does take over somewhat with the raspberry jam left behind to try and compete, which could be evened out a little to give that burst of fruit kind of feel to the raspberry, but that really is the only thing I can pick on here and I’m really diving into this to come out with that one small negative.

A bloody great Raspberry Jam Donut right here folks. If you’re a dessert vaper, you should give this one a go, it’s one of the best of the bunch when it comes to this profile. So if you love other raspberry jam donuts, this one will exceed your expectations!

As always, Vintage Vape Co labels reflect their slogan and branding well with their vintage parchment coloured labels, and old school tattoo designs.
The name and company are clearly displayed, along with accompanying flavour specific artwork. Besides the basic ingredients and warnings list, there isn’t really anything else on them however. VG/PG ratio, additional warnings, bottle size etc.. are all non existant. If ever the labels are redesigned, I’d particularly like to see the bottle size and PG/VG ratio shown on there.

Original Haku Cruiser running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
Augvape Intake RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
