e-Liquid Review: Cannoli Be One by Cassadaga Liquids

e-Liquid Review: Cannoli Be One by Cassadaga Liquids

I’ve had this in the review closet for a quite a while now, as I’ve been really focusing on the Aussie e-liquids, but it’s about time I got stuck into it, so here I am!

The champions at OPMH Project sent this one over, so long ago, I doubt they even remember doing it, but being true to every flavour that comes in getting a review, here it is in all it’s glory, a totally over-steeped, aged glass dropper bottle full of everybody’s favourite cannoli flavour.

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Cannoli Be One” from Cassadaga Liquids.

(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

[From the website]
Connor MacLeod raised his Cannoli shell to the sky. Lightning rained down, striking the Cannoli shell, imbuing it with the power of vanilla and sweet, multi-layered cream filling. Connor, seeing the resulting masterpiece, roared to the heavens, exclaiming, “There Cannoli Be One!”

Primary Flavors: Cannoli Pastry, Cream, Vanilla
PG/VG Ratio: 30% PG / 70% VG

The Review

Well, this one has quite the following. Doing a quick google search brings up quite a few great reviews, and a lot of people calling it nothing short of their all day vape.

When it first came out, there weren’t many Cannoli flavours on the market, but as soon as this one hit the streets, every man and his dog had their own recipe, but like the title says, there “Cannoli Be One”.

Often a hyped up e-liquid can be a bit of a disappointment for me, because I tend to build them up a bit, having high expectations, and then when they fall a little short of miraculous, I’m left wanting. Not so with this one though. This is one e-liquid that definitely lives up to it’s hype, and truthfully may well be one of the best Cannolis out there.

This is not a simple, single profile flavour. It is complex, and has a huge depth of flavour to it, something you’ll find yourself immersing in only to come out the other side completely blown away by the sheer amount of contrasting and complimentary flavours that make up this blend.

” True to it’s name, this creamy pastry hits you unexpectedly with it’s very realistic pastry, added cinnamon highlights, and the deep depths of complex custard and cream that make up this full and flavoursome offering. “

Individual Notes

While this flavour comes together really well, is complex and seemingly simple, it’s not, there’s a lot going on in this!

The pastry is interesting, because you’d expect it to be a little dry, warmer, contrasting against the cool creams, but it’s not exactly that. Sure it has a dryer doughy feel, but I notice sponge cake notes here too, so it has a little more of a cake feel to it.

The custard/cream combo is great. It’s probably the best it can be considering, custards in the vape world really aren’t all that custardy. It’s a warmer feel, thick and creamy, with a noticeable vanilla accent. I’m finding that the custard does a great job blending everything together to create that sugary sweet, yet thick and creamy texture.

There is a little bit of a ricotta feel in here, not very strong mind you, and more of a texture thing than a flavour. It thickens the custard, and creates a richer presence than the vanilla alone.

I’m also picking up a little cinnamon here. It’s a great addition that helps sweeten, pulling the other flavours together for a more condensed vape, and setting a general undertone.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, its all custard. A thick and rich almost caramel vanilla custard, sweet, smooth and creamy, with the normal vanilla custard feel.
Of course it gradually increases in intensity the further into the inhale you get, and reaches it’s peak at the top.

At this point, you’ll begin to notice a little pastry and cinnamon roll in, they create a slightly drier feel, further creating texture and punching a little depth into the profile. The pastry flexes from a nice subdued cheesecake base to an almost creamy sponge cake base, an interesting take, but very tasty.

As you exhale, that pastry and cinnamon increase in volume, embracing the custard and carrying it along with it creating a sweet combination. About halfway through the exhale, you might also pick up an almost ricey note, a more savoury feel and slight turn in flavour, which i think is a great addition, and really gives this juice some impact.

It all blends together wonderfully toward the end of the exhale, leaving you wanting to take another puff, just to experience the full range of notes, and how they play along with each other. Sweet, thick, creamy and textured, this one is definitely one to try. It’s no wonder it has a cult following!

Final thoughts

This is a totally delicious blend. Admittedly, not exactly like a real cannoli, but there are certain inferences you can make considering eating the real thing, and creating a vape flavour are completely different beasts.

Where biting down into a cannoli will see you crunch through semi moist sweet pastry, into the chilled ricotta below resulting in a delicious mess, the vaping equivalent simply cannot replicate that as a texture unfortunately, and you’ll have to allow a little artistic license as far as that sort of thing goes.

The pastry is almost right, getting that dense, moist pastry, half graham cracker, half cheesecake base, it does carry with it a slight sponge cake note however, which seems a little out of place. It’s tasty, but doesn’t quite fit.

Some will say, “This is the best I’ve tried”, “OMG this is just like a real cannoli!”. But no, it’s not just like a real cannoli, there is a huge difference, but as I mentioned before, you have to give credit where credit is due. It probably is the closest you’ll get to replicating it in vape form. So, there is that.

Now some positives, this is absolutely delicious. Regardless of the precise profile, this complex combination of pastry meets custard is fantastic and very well blended. A deft hand at mixing has done a marvelous job on this one keeping everything tight and making sure its all balanced evenly.

You’ll get zero unwanted notes here, just perfectly blended, complex and rich flavours dancing on your tongue, this really is a pleasurable vape and one I did not expect to give such a high score to.

Fantastic work on this one.

Where to Buy:

You can pick this gem up from many physical vape shops and online stores worldwide, Giant Vapes have it for $24.99.

Colour:

Honey Tint

Aroma:

Rich Custard and thick Sweet Pastry

Coil and wick damage:

This will damage your coils and wicks. While it won’t completely destroy them, you’ll find them darkening and gunking up a lot quicker than you would a fruit flavour.

PG/VG Ratio:

70VG/30PG

Texture:

Thick and creamy dessert

Steeping:

A steep is definitely recommended.

Presentation:

I hate glass dropper bottles. Granted that this bottle has been around for a while, and “Cannoli Be One” can now be purchased in Chubby Gorilla bottles, but I’m still going to vent. Wow they suck! It’s been a long while since I had to refill with droppers, and let’s just say, I’d be happy to never use one again 😀

Anyway, this was very nicely presented, I love Cassadaga’s branding it’s unique and easily identifiable.
As mentioned I received a 60ml Glass dropper bottle, with the darker grey label. The label has the juice name and company front and centre, as well as the bottle size. Off to the side, there is the nicotine content in %, Batch number (which is awesome) manufacturing data and a barcode.
On the other side typical warnings for Prop65 and a basic ingredients list.

Test rigs:

Original Haku Cruiser running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
Augvape Intake RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
Bonza RDA with x2 Framed Stapled coils (0.2 ohm-ish)
