eLiquid Review 477: Candy Orange from Contraband Vape Co

eLiquid Review 477: Candy Orange from Contraband Vape Co

You’ve likely seen this next e-liquid company before. They’ve got some really cool branding and some equally striking and contrasting bottle profiles. These guys were one of the first brands to bring out those classy “Gold” glass dropper bottles some time ago, and have been on the vaping scene for as many years as I can remember.

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Candy Orange” from Contraband Vape Co.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

Candy orange is a super juicy orange blend.

Mixed with hints of yummy candy, and sunny orange to create a vape juice that’s a easy all day vape.

If you love the taste of orange Tic-Tacs then this smooth fruity juice is right for you!

The Review

I’m going to mention that Orange is a pretty difficult flavour to get right. It actually really is. Orange based vape flavours can be wavering, and often not very strong, so you can imagine just how difficult it can be to get that kick of citrus from them.

Luckily Contraband are on their game, and have provided us with an orange that is not just full of flavour, but pretty tasty too!

“Candy Orange” is a throw back for fruit candy lovers everywhere, fruity citrus orange, with an un-mistakeable sweet candy undertone is probably how I would describe this e-liquid. More a soft gummy candy than a hard boiled sweet. This is one you can vape all day long!

Side-note: This does not contain menthol or any cooling agents.

Individual Notes

There aren’t a lot of individual flavours here, its predominately orange, that sweet yet citrus juicy orange you’d get biting into the real thing. Well, perhaps not the juiciest orange. You know when you get an orange that has more defined pulp cells, (the bits that make up the flesh of the fruit) they’re not as thin and typically have a more noticeable texture when biting into them. They quite often have a juicy, yet more subdued flavour to them too.  That is what this orange reminds me of. Less of a citrus kick, yet still full orange flavoured.

You’ll notice the sweet candy taste in here too. It’s not a sugar, but more of an undertone, perhaps more of a powdered sugar, very fine, and blended well with the orange to create a seamless jelly candy feel.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, you’ll get instant fresh orange. It’s sweet and citrus-y with a distinct bite to it, a slightly bitter bite. This evens out a little as the inhale continues and the orange intensifies getting to a nice full flavour.

The full intensity of the orange is at it’s peak as you turn into the exhale, where you’re presented with some additional sweetness. An almost powdered sugar note, well blended to the orange, creating a soft jelly candy feeling.

Don’t get me wrong, that powdered sugar is not dry at all in nature, but that distinct flavour seems to rise from the background on the exhale. It all gets sweeter as you exhale, right through to the end, where the orange and sugar bind so well together, you’ll likely forget that they are even two separate ingredients.

Final thoughts

I’ve really enjoyed this one, and have been vaping it over the whole weekend in fact. This 60ml bottle is close to empty, but I could have easily kept vaping this for the rest of the week. It’s a very easy juice to just throw in your setup and go, without even thinking about it.

As for improvements, while this is quite flavoursome, I still feel as though it could be a little punchier. If there wasn’t already, perhaps some mandarin, or another complimentary fruit could work in here, to just lift the orange to be a little more of an impact. I also wouldn’t go so far as to call this an orange “Tic-Tac” flavour, to me it has more of an orange fruit juice feel to it, but of course everyone is different.

If you love your citrus based flavours, this one should definitely be on your list to try, straight up sweet orange!

Presentation:

I like the branding that Contraband has, its got an impact to it that I find visually pleasing. I received white 60ml Chubby Gorilla styled bottles with black caps, needle tips and the usual child-proof lid, and freshness seal.

The labels are very simple clear backed with black bold text, quite striking really, with brand, juice name and the Contraband website URL clearly displayed. There are no warnings, bottle sizing, ingredients, vg/pg ratios or anything else on them.

I would have liked to see a little more information on the labels.

Test rigs:

Haku with slam cap running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
Augvape Intake RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
