eLiquid Review 511: BGR by Wild Kraken

This next flavour is the 3rd and final flavour from the Wild Kraken eliquid range. Yep, it’s only a small line, but I’m sure will be added to over time, as more flavours are developed.

We’ve seen tasty juicy mango, and blood orange based flavours come at us from this fairly new collection, but this time, let’s take a look at something a little more candy-like!

Today, I’ll be reviewing “BGR” from Wild Kraken.

Flavour Description

The Review

I love a blue raspberry flavour, there’s just something about them, sweet with no real predefined flavour profile. Blue raspberry is a bit of a paradox as there is no such thing as a Blue Raspberry. Instead it is typically a raspberry candy, blue in colour, often very sweet and candy-like.

“BGR” stands for “Blue Gummy Raspberry”, and while this one is far from being a punch in the mouth with intensity, the description is exactly what this flavour is.

Individual Notes

The raspberry of course is the main note here, its a candy raspberry, with a deep sweetness, and a tartness that doesn’t quite make it to a blackberry or a strawberry’s level, but is unique in it’s own way.

Backing onto the raspberry is the blueberry, well, I think it is blueberry anyway. It has all of a blueberry’s traits, a low down background note, slightly floral, and a little dry.

Somewhere in here, I hit another flavour, it’s a little medicinal in nature, I’m thinking cherry, but just like the blueberry, it is very light and only noticeable every so often. Definitely a welcome addition though and it adds a little more dimension to this flavour.

The gummy here is spot on, just like a gummy bear, in not only flavour but in texture, you can really feel that gumminess in your mouth!

Inhale & Exhale

I have to admit, due to this being quite a light flavour, even I am having issues with deciphering the differing notes on the inhale and the exhale, but here is what I feel is happening.

Blueberry on the inhale, it’s very light, not entirely even distinguishable as blueberry, more a blueberry candy/cotton candy blend. It’s sweet and very elusive. This intensifies a little as I inhale, and toward the top of the inhale, I notice a slight medicinal note, like a sharp cherry peeking through the blueberry, right before I also notice the raspberry appearing.

The raspberry is sweet, very candy-like just as the blueberry was, and is probably the more dominant note in this flavour. It seems like all flavours arrive almost at the same time with this flavour. Just like the cherry before the raspberry, I notice the raspberry before the gummy.

As you exhale, the raspberry strengthens into a reasonable intensity, it’s not super strong, but carries itself, until the texture changes, this is where the gummy comes in.

The raspberry dips a little, as the gummy gets more noticeable, first giving off a vegetable glycerine vibe, sweet but a little dull, until it’s full effects show, and you get quite a nice gummy feel in your mouth. Not syrupy, just a thicker texture, then the blueberry comes back, aligning with the gummy and re-establishing itself within the mix.

You’re then left with even amounts of raspberry and blueberry/cotton candy with a very gummy texture through to the end of the vape.

Final thoughts

This is a pretty great Blue raspberry and with the additional gummy added, makes for a really fantastic vape.

Unfortunately, this just was not strong enough for me. While I can understand that some flavours work a lot better when used in smaller amounts, I really don’t know why the flavour intensity was dialled down in this one.

So right off the bat, if I were to try and improve this one, that is what I would do, up the flavour across the board.

Other than that, this one is really good. If you’re a blue raspberry or even a gummy fan, you’re going to dig this one. Even better if you’ve got sensitive taste-buds, and like lighter flavours, “BGR” will be your go to, go grab yourself a bottle!

Presentation:

I love the branding of this range, the trademark blue labels as well as matching blue bottle caps look great! The bottles are 60ml blue tinted Chubby Gorilla styled bottles, with safety seal and childproof cap. There is a needle tip dispensor so you can get that nozzle right in there even on difficult to fill tanks.

The labels are a striking light blue with the Kraken background as well as the bold “Wild Kraken” brand front and centre. The juice flavours and name are on the label toward the bottom and in case you missed that, they also put an additional sticker on the label, colour dependant on the flavour.

The other information available on the labels is your usual data, Name, Flavour, VG/PG ratio, Bottle size, Keep away from children warnings, 18+, Basic ingredients, as well as a Palm Free VG line.
