eJuice Review 396: (Sweet As) Geeks – Watermelon & Apple by Clouded Visions

Clouded Visions have certainly been busy since I reviewed a bunch of their flavours. I’ve only just recently finished reviewing their 3 flavour “Jammed Up” lineup, but, there is also another that they’ve been working on since I last reviewed some of their stuff a year ago.

This newest range is sweeter. A hell of a lot sweeter, and is aptly named “Sweet As”.

This new range is a 4 flavour lineup, focusing on you guessed it, sweets, candies, lollies, whatever your favourite term is for them.

Let’s not muck around, I’ve got a juice to review!

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Geeks – Watermelon & Apple” from Clouded Vision’s “Sweet As” range.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor.)

Flavour Description

A favourite of ours growing up, with that instantly recognisable distinctive flavour that’s sure to bring out the Nerd in all of us.

The Review:

If you don’t remember this flavour profile and the candy that it is supposed to mimic, I’m sorry, you’ve been living under a rock. “Nerds” have been around a long time now, and if you don’t know them, they are these small pellet sized, oddly shaped solid lumps of coloured sugar, that impart an overdose of sugary sweetness, as well as an instant sour hit all at the same time.

To give you an idea of how sweet and artificial these little things are, you’re teeth are likely to squeak when you eat them. That’s the sound of your enamel melting and decay kicking in, meanwhile garnering applause and savage grins from dentist’s and their accountants all over the country.

Fear not, you won’t experience any dental issues with the vaping equivalent (well, I don’t think so anyway..) so you can go nuts. “Geeks – Watermelon / Apple” is a really sweet, candied watermelon and apple flavour, brilliantly mimicking the actual candy you’d get from the corner store, so much so that you’ll be out the door looking through your options in the “Sensodyne” aisle of your local supermarket as soon as you try it!

Individual Notes

Ok, so there’s a few things going on here, it’s not too complex, but the flavours in it work so well together, and compliment each other really really nicely.

The watermelon in this is a candied watermelon, definitely not realistic at all. Take a watermelon flavoured jellybean, and that is pretty much the watermelon that you’ll get out of this. It has a dull feel to it, as many watermelon flavoured candies do, with a slight artificial sweetener feel to it.

Just like the watermelon, the apple is also a pretty familiar apple candy flavour. It’s bright, tart and really compliments the duller watermelon by brightening it up and adding a bit of tang to the profile.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, I notice the watermelon first, it’s an artificially sweetened, slightly dull, or lower note, just like most watermelon candies are. Unusually, the flavour is quite strong on the inhale already. Where most flavours are lighter on the inhale, this one flavours up pretty quickly, with the sweet watermelon building up to an even stronger and intense flavour right at the top of the inhale.

Just as you get to the top of the inhale, the apple kicks in with a sudden burst of tartness, and in contrast to the sweetness creates that realistic “Nerds” (sweet/sour) feel. It’s not quite at that “Nerds” level of sourness/tartness but it’s not far off!

Over to the exhale, the apple continues, but begins to fade out and lose it’s sourness a little, dialing back to a more sweeter apple candy, with the watermelon coming back into play as well.

At this point of the exhale the watermelon actually blends in with the sweeter apple quite well, a really harmonious matchup, which fuels the tastebuds with a sweetened hard candy mix right through to the end of the vape.

Final thoughts

When I first tasted this (on my finger) it was a spot on “Nerds” flavour for me. Vaping it, it kind of loses it’s shine so to speak, as the height of the sourness or tartness, is actually not really that tart. “Nerds” candy is REALLY tart, and REALLY sweet, and while I understand that this level of impact on the senses is pretty difficult to do with vape flavours, doesn’t change the fact that it doesn’t reach those levels, when it’s advertised as a “Nerds” flavour.

I wouldn’t normally mention that or give it too much airplay, but I know that some will say that it is under-flavoured, when it’s not, its the level of sourness that it lacks which is pretty much impossible to do with vape flavours.

Anyway, apart from that little derailment, I’ve had a lot of fun vaping this one, it totally does taste like the candy, and these are two of my favourite “Nerds” flavours.

One thing that will impress you is, that with the level of sweetness in here, it does not seem to damage wicks or coils. It’s a pretty clean juice, and I’ve not run into any issues with coil gunking or having to rewick over the 2 days that I’ve been vaping it. That’s a pretty blood great achievement!!

Well done guys!
