eJuice Review 326: Black Orange Crush (Summer Holidays) by Dinner Lady

Ok, the hype train is truly here folks. This has got to be one of the most hyped juice lines over the last year, with Dinner Lady trying to make its presence known over here in Australia, it seems to be all I hear about lately on social media.

So how is it? Is it everything and more? Is it really as tasty as everyone says it is? Let’s find out!

Today I’ll be reviewing “Black Orange Crush” from the Summer Holidays range.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor)

Flavour Description:

Blackcurrant and orange crushed with ice and a little extra. All of this combined into one kick-ass burst of flavour.

The Review:

The Dinner Lady Summer Holidays range is known for it’s sweetened, chilled flavours, and boy are they sweet! I can’t say that I’m overly excited about the amount of sweetener in this juice, due to having to rewick every day, but it is what it is. You just could not get the same level of juicyness and flavour like this without it.

“Black Orange Crush” is a really sweet fleshy orange drink with background notes of blackcurrant and an icy cold, chilled exhale. Perfect for those hot summer days!

Individual Notes

The Blackcurrant is pretty much the base note here, it is light, yet acts as an anchor for the higher orange notes.
Orange is the real star of the show, you could be forgiven for thinking that this is a pure orange vape, with nothing more to it. It’s a sweet juicy fleshy orange, that is both full flavoured and refreshing.

The sweetener and cooling agent that is in here really does add to the juicy effect and helps replicate a nice soothing cool orange drink.

Inhale & Exhale

The inhale is mostly of orange with a tiny bit of blackcurrant. It’s sweet, and toward the turn of the inhale, that chilled cooling agent kicks in. I’m a little surprised that the blackcurrant isn’t very prominant, I suppose I just expected it to be stronger, but instead, it is more of a background note that gives a base to the orange and a bit of a lower note to even things out.

At the turn of the inhale and onto the exhale the chilled effect gets stronger and quite icy, really hitting throat and washing over you with it’s chilled orange high notes and light but sweet sugary blackcurrant nuance.

Did I mention this was sweet and icy? It really really is! Personally, I think there is just a touch too much cooling agent in here, it ruins things a little bit for me, but might just be perfect for a mouth to lung vaper!

Final thoughts

I’ll mention it again, there is a tonne of sweetener in this range. I have to admire Dinner Lady for deciding to just run with it instead of trying their best to develop flavours with no sweetener at all and perhaps falling short. Admittingly, you just would not get these same juicy combos without it. It’s like they just decided “Screw the coils and wicks, if sweetener is going to push these juices over the edge with juicy flavour, then so be it!”.

So if you’re not afraid of changing out your wicks every few days, you’re going to love this one. It’s juicy, fruity, sweet and combined with the cooling agent, so very refreshing. I have tried a few of their range before this one, and I think this one is one of my favourites.

I am in a dilemma as this is a really tasty juice, but I just cannot get past the amount of sweetener added and the high level of cooling agent used. Tasty as it is, at some point, juice quality, including how it affects your coils and wicks must come into play. A little less sweetener could have been overlooked, but I’ve had to rate this one a little lower than usual because of it.

Where to Buy:

You can find the Dinner Lady Summer Holidays range in most vape stores across Australia, I won’t link to them all.

Dinner Lady do have their own website, even though you cannot purchase their juices directly, they have a tonne of information available there. Go take a look! (http://vapedinnerlady.com)

No steeping necessary with this one, it’s good right away.

Presentation:

The Dinner Lady Summer Holidays range all come in 60ml Glass bottles with eyedropper tips on child proof caps. They also come in tamper evident seals. Each flavour has a different coloured bottle, which is some type of powder coating. ( It does scrape off if you try. Ive been doing this so that I can see how much is left in the bottle.)
Being an eyedropper, you get the usual leaking around the rim and consequent liquid finding its way down to the base of the bottle unless you wipe it every time.

The labels are very nice looking, giving off a homey feel, with the Dinner Lady and Summer Holidays logos as well as any other information you might need.

Test rigs:

Haku with slam cap running a single 0.18 AK coil from “Bombers Coils” on a mech mod.
OBS Engine RTA on Revenger mod @ 80w
