eJuice Review 426: Lo Pan from Outrun Vape

We are past the Mid-way point now, for Outrun Vapes latest offerings and we’ve seen some interesting mixes already. If you thought things had gotten a little unusual already, wait until you try today’s flavour. This is sure to get you curious!

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Lo Pan” by Outrun Vape.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor.)

Flavour Description

The sorcerer Lo Pan was afflicted with the curse of No Flesh. If asked about the worst part of this, he’ll tell you it’s not being able to eat his favourite dessert: delicious Matcha Ice Cream.

The Review:

Ill be honest, (when aren’t I?) I’d never heard of Matcha or Green Tea Ice Cream before. Had I had come across it I probably would have avoided it at all costs, not wanting to gamble on a sweet dessert blended with a slightly bitter and savoury green tea.
My tiny brain would have simply refused to acknowledge that it is a thing and could possibly be any good.

Matcha, if you’re not familiar with it, is a finely ground powder, made from green tea leaves, originally from China then Japan. Matcha has made a bit of a resurgence in recent years, often ending up in Matcha Lattes, Green Tea ice cream, and a variety of Japanese confectionary.

“Lo Pan” is a thick and creamy Vanilla Ice Cream, quite sweet, with a contrasting vegetal Green Tea bitterness, it’s a really strange combination but it totally works too!

Individual Notes

The vanilla ice cream notes are really good. Thick and creamy, with just enough vanilla to convince you that it is an ice cream. The finish is smooth and silky leaving you with a thick and full mouth feel, very robust.

The Green Tea in this is not obtrusive in any way, Outrun have done a great job making sure that it doesn’t dominate over the ice cream, but blends with it allowing both flavours to thrive. It is sweet with a herbal, slight earthy feel to it, without any bitterness.

Inhale & Exhale

The inhale is all vanilla ice cream. This part of the vape is a little marshmallow, sweet, with a thick mouth feel, and a little vanilla spice. I’m not noticing much of a Butyric acid note here which is good, its quite a well rounded Ice Cream flavour.

Flicking over to the exhale, the Vanilla Ice Cream carries on, but you will notice a gradual increase in bitter-sweetness as the Green Tea notes begin to ripen. Slowly but surely, the light, earthy, herbal Green Tea notes intensify creating a wall of Green Tea against the sweeter and creamier Vanilla Ice Cream.

Both the Green tea and Vanilla Ice Cream combine through the exhale, falling back into each other as they reach their flavour peak and blend seamlessly into a herbal yet sweet and creamy vape,

Final thoughts

This one threw me initially, and I wasn’t sure that I was dis-liking it or if it was one of those flavours that is just so unusual, you don’t really give it the attention that it deserves. The Ice Cream is wonderful, but the Green Tea on the exhale can be a little “surprising”. Green Tea is a villain of a flavour concentrate. It’s confronting, in flavour, but it also leaves an odour. You may want to vape this one outside if you have a family with sensitive noses. 🙂

Anyway. a funny thing happened, after a few hours of vaping it, I did begin to like it. I threw out all notions of what an unusual mix it was and just sat back and enjoyed the strangeness of it.

This flavour really grows on you. If you pick up a bottle of this for yourself, vape it for a couple of days, don’t just dismiss it if you don’t like the green tea inflection. You’ll be rewarded for your perseverance as the green tea really does meld with the ice cream notes after a while, leaving you with a tasty blend that you can vape all day.

Green Tea lovers, have at it. You’re going to go crazy over this one!

Presentation:

I love Outrun Vape’s branding. I don’t often approach vendors and offer to do reviews, but I just couldn’t help myself with Outrun. Their branding has a really cool retro/futuristic style with neons and pre millennium film references.
I received black plastic unicorn bottles with child-proof caps, needle tip dispenser, with really cool retro labels. The labels have all of the information you’ll need on them including: PG/VG ratio, juice name, logo, warnings, even an 18+ R Rating!

Test rigs:

Haku with slam cap running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
OBS Engine RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
