eJuice Review 425: Skynet by Outrun Vape

Here we go with the 3rd flavour from Outrun Vape’s latest offerings, and today we’re going back to another fruit flavour! This one is a very interesting combination, that I wouldn’t have thought to mix in a million years. The profiles of both of these fruits conflict by their very definition, so this one is going to be a tough one to pull off!

Have they nailed it? Lets take a look!

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Skynet” by Outrun Vape.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor.)

Flavour Description

According to Skynet algorithms, the taste of a big bowl of sweet banana cream with fresh strawberries would be irresistible to the remaining humans and this was its creation.

The Review:

This isn’t just a banana cream with strawberry. It is so much more. Whilst many will be content to call it that, to me “Skynet” is a one of a kind blend of Sweet Banana Cream low notes providing a silky smooth base, a slightly candy yet realistic strawberry adding to that sweetness, with a bite that cuts through the banana, and a unique nutty note that flows through the entire vape.

Individual Notes

The banana cream is a candy-esque banana, it’s smooth and creamy, with a sweet cream feel to it, and a texture that is silky. If I were to equate the banana to something, it would probably be like a banana runt, not quite an Allens banana candy flavour.

The strawberry I believe is a couple of different strawberries, on one hand I notice a bit of a candyiness from it, but then I also pickup on a lower more realistic strawberry note, with a little of a seed like flavour coming through.

Blended with the banana cream, the strawberry creates an almost nutty finish, whilst still retaining it’s tart and fresh strawberry fleshy sharpness.

Inhale & Exhale

The banana is most dominant through the inhale. I find that its a little on the candy side, with a sweet cream texture. On a taste test by putting some on my finger, I can absolutely taste the banana cream, which is then highlighted by the strawberry, but I’m finding that while vaping this, things are a little muddled.

I really notice the creamy profile of the banana cream, the Butyric acid stands out on the nose, but those banana notes just don’t seem to carry a banana feel very well when blended with the strawberry. Instead of a nice clean banana, I’m finding that it takes on a nuttier feel, when combined with the strawberry especially on the inhale.

This sort of muddled fruity feel carries through to the exhale, until about halfway through, when the strawberry kicks things up a notch, bringing it’s intensified sweet tartness into the light, driving the banana back into little more than a base note.

The exhale continues like this right until the end, a banana backnote with a smooth creamy texture and tart strawberry rising to fill the senses, right through to the finish.

Final thoughts

This one is a very interesting mix, I find it a little peculiar to end up with a slightly nutty flavour from blending these two together, but it works well, and provides some depth and a little complexity.

I think that the banana cream may have been able to be a little stronger, or the strawberry a little smoother, in order to remove any harshness from the conflicting flavours, but in all in all, I’ve quite enjoyed vaping it.

This one will definitely be for those who like strong fruits, as it does pack a bit of a punch.

This one is gentle on the coils and wicks, and is quite smooth considering the punch of strawberry you’ll get from it!

Nice work guys!

Presentation:

I love Outrun Vape’s branding. I don’t often approach vendors and offer to do reviews, but I just couldn’t help myself with Outrun. Their branding has a really cool retro/futuristic style with neons and pre millennium film references.
I received black plastic unicorn bottles with child-proof caps, needle tip dispenser, with really cool retro labels. The labels have all of the information you’ll need on them including: PG/VG ratio, juice name, logo, warnings, even an 18+ R Rating!

Test rigs:

Haku with slam cap running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
OBS Engine RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
