eJuice Review 394: Strawberry – Jammed Up by Clouded Visions

So here I am onto the second of Clouded Visions latest creations, the first one “Apricot” was quite a good rendition of the old Apricot Jam on toast, it even had a bit of a buttery undertone to it making it just that much more realistic.

Not all of you would have tried Apricot jam, or liked it for that matter. But today, I bring you a jam that you all would have had a crack at. It would be a favourite of many, and a staple in your diet at some point.

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Strawberry” from Clouded Vision’s “Jammed Up” range.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor.)

Flavour Description

Who doesn’t love Jam? Or butter for that matter? Clouded Visions presents its “Jammed Up” line, a full range of jam on toast inspired flavours! We’ve all tried the popular American versions, however at Clouded Visions we couldn’t help but think we could do this better! And we did, resulting in a more balanced, more coil friendly, more variety and an overall more ‘Jammy’ range of flavours.

The Review:

Strawberry jam has a distinctive flavour, to me it has quite a realistic strawberry note to it, it’s rich, has a little bit of an organic seed nuance, pumped with sugar for sweetness, and a texture that is thick, sticky and peppered with small bits of un-mashed strawberries.

Clouded Visions have done quite a good job of replicating it in their “Strawberry – Jammed Up” flavour, it has all of the individual bits and pieced lined up, the richness, the sweetened strawberries, even the organic seed notes. The thick and sticky texture is there too. Pair the strawberry jam with a little bit of a buttery feel, and a light toast undertone, you’ve got the markings for something special.

Individual Notes

The strawberry is a natural, realistic strawberry, less jammy and artificial than “Apricot – Jammed Up”, with a distinctive seed note, obviously also a lot less tart than a real strawberry. (It’s a jam after all!)

There is also a buttery note here, just like “Apricot – Jammed Up”, it lies below the jam, as though you’ve just put a thick spread of butter over warm toast before dolloping the jam on top. A little salty, and a little buttery, in my opinion, this layering makes this range of flavours what they are!

The toast. I am still getting an underlying toast feel to this juice, just like I did with the last one. I originally suspected that it wasn’t there at all and it was my mind putting the pieces together, and I was internally creating that flavour, but I’m convinced now that there is a touch of toast added. I have absolutely no idea how these guys have done it but it’s not nutty, or anything, it’s quite bready, without the usual sweetness and dough flavour.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, the strawberry is instantly there. Quite light at this stage, but distinctive with it’s jammy feel and seed notes.
As with the Apricot in the last review, I notice a little bit of a gummy or jelly note in here too, which seems to help make up the jam profile without being too artificial. It itself is also light, adding just enough of that gumminess without taking over the flavour.

At the top of the inhale and onto the exhale is where the jam is at it’s most intense. I get a big hit of strawberry, to the point of almost getting a tart note from it but not quite, it stops short of turning into a full on strawberry, and begins to get sweeter, with the jelly or gummy nuance pulling it back from shooting over the mark.

As the strawberry reaches its crescendo, and begins to hold, a warm butter becomes more apparent during the exhale, a touch of saltiness, and the butter totally pulls the strawberry jam out of it’s sugary state and helps to create a much more complex final profile.

It’s at this point, right at the end of the exhale, that I notice the toasted flavour hit. It’s really light, but excentuates the existing flavours and adds a more rounded full texture to the vape. It really finishes it all off well.

Final thoughts

“Strawberry – Jammed Up” is a fantastic flavour, I’ve loved every minute of it. I do remember strawberry jam being a little richer, with something else there that I just can’t put my finger on, perhaps it was a little vanilla or lemon, but all in all this has been quite a good jam flavour.

I like that Clouded Visions have paid attention to the little things, like the strawberry seeds and the butter, those inflections really make this juice, and add to the overall complexity and texture that make it what it is.

If you love your strawberry jam, this is a great flavour for you, I highly recommend it, and can’t wait to see what the final “Jammed Up” flavour is like!

Well done guys!
