First Impressions

There’s no mistaking it, there are a few big ticks here, for the Blotto. Easy to access fill port, tick. Smooth airflow, tick. Easy to build deck, tick. 25mm diameter, tick. Decent juice capacity, tick. Skull on the inside tube of the tank, big tick!

Seriously though, this did tick a lot of boxes, over some of the other RTA’s available when I went out to the local vape shop, above all else, the Vaping Bogan has his name on it, and we all know he wouldn’t do that unless the product lived up to his standards.

As a bonus, this kit comes with a lot of stuff! You name it, it’s in here! x2 extra tank pieces, a glass bubble, and also an ultem one for those who don’t like glass, a skull juice bottle opener, that doubles as a coil measuring tool for cutting your coils down to the right size before installing, an accessory bag with tri-tool, extra screws and orings, and of course a user manual.

The only thing this tank does not come with, are coils to install! Booooo!

General Looks and Style

The Blotto is a really masculine looking RTA, with it’s bottle cap grip, wide drip tip, and skull logo on the chimney, but that’s not all there is to it.

The machining is quality, every part of this tank threads together really nice and smoothly. You won’t be struggling to pull this apart nor put it back together. The threads capture easily, making it quite difficult to cross thread anything at all.

Up top you have your delrin lined 810 drip tip, and 1/4 turn cap that you remove to fill the tank. Standard is your 2ml glass section for the tank (there are 2 extra tanks that come with it to give you 6ml of juice capacity), and you have a 90 degree honeycomb airflow adjustment down below it.

It’s a nice size being approximately 25mm in diameter and only 54mm in height, so it won’t be towering above your mod too high.

The Deck

Now this is where things get really interesting.
The Blotto is not just any RTA, it hasn’t been thrown together as another 2 post deck with simple one or two passages of airflow, Dovpo and the Bogan have gone to town trying bring you the best flavour.

This is a 4 post deck (4 short posts to screw your coils down) but with a 2 post airflow system. This airflow system is like two large claws that reach out from each side of your coils and slightly over the top, with 15 small airflow holes on each claw directing your airflow a solid 242 degrees around your coils.

Under your coils you also have 7 large slots for the air to push out from under your coils too.

All of these airflow holes from the base right through to the internal airflow directed at your coils, provides a fantastically smooth vape. Rather than a straight unrestricted flow, it’s staggered, yet smooth giving you a restricted direct to lung vape.

Building

Building on the Blotto is super easy too. This is one of those tanks where you need to cut your coil legs down before you put them in, there’s no way to slide them through and cut off the tails. Instead, and to make things easy, Dovpo and the Bogan have provided an eliquid bottle opener that doubles as a coil leg measuring tool. Simply sit your coil on the rectangle cutout in the Skull tool, and snip the legs from the other side. They will be the perfect length!

Four large coil leg holes can be found in the deck, and they are big! You’re not going to have any trouble fitting some complex builds in this that’s for sure.

Slot your coils into place, moving them around to where you like them, and screw them down with the tri-tool. Couldn’t be simpler. You might need to wrestle them into place a little, as there isn’t a lot of room when doing a dual coil build. Just get them nice and even, with a little bit of room around them between the airflow posts and you’re good to go.

Wicking

Wicking isn’t too complicated on the Blotto, the usual “snug in the coils”, and tails long enough to sit just above and slightly inside the kidney shaped wick slots will suffice. I’ve noticed that the Blotto isn’t too fussy with wicking, you really can get away with a lot, as long as you don’t stuff that wicking hole too full, you won’t get dry hits.

Airflow

As I mentioned earlier, the airflow is probably the most revolutionary part of this RTA, internally two large claw posts rise alongside your coils, and reach over a little, both having small airflow holes in them, as well as 7 large slots underneath the coils to direct the airflow upward.

This sort of staggered airflow does a great job of disrupting any wayward air, and focusing it directly on the coils where it should be, offering excellent flavour and a really smooth vape.

Because of this airflow, as well as the honeycomb inlet ring, you’ll find that this tank is a little more restricted than you might expect.
If you’re looking for wide open airflow, you won’t get it with the Blotto, but if you are looking for a slightly disrupted yet silky smooth airflow with a really saturated flavour, you’re going to love it.

Filling

Super simple filling on the Blotto, as it should be. This RTA has a top fill, simply unscrew the top cap which is pretty much a 1/4 turn, remove it and fill your tank using either of the two large kidney shaped fill ports.
Fill it right up and put the cap back on.

I love the grip of this cap also, it’s a throw back to a beer bottle cap, which is not only fitting for a device with the Vaping Bogan’s name on it, but allows a really good handle on the cap when unscrewing it.

Any Leaks?

I’ve heard of others getting a little leaking, but I have not experienced any of this. I’m cautious of bottom airflow tanks and that they can leak through the airflow, however I’ve not had any issues with the Blotto! Which is fantastic, and honestly, put a little bit of my faith back into these types of RTA’s. I’ve thrown a few builds and rewicked a few times over the last few weeks, and not a drop!

Pros:

  • Great size
  • No leaking
  • Fantastic Flavour
  • Smooth airflow
  • No whistles
  • Excellent build quality
  • Extra goodies in the bag
  • Extra tank sections for personal preference

Cons:

  • Cannot get a fully open airflow

Where to Buy:

You can purchase the Dovpo x Bogan Blotto RTA from various vendors around the place, most shops are stocking them.
At the time of writing…
Vape4Life have them for $54.95 AU
VapeSourcing have them for $47.22 AU

Conclusion

Bloody great tank this one. Like I’ve said before, I tend to avoid bottom airflow tanks because gravity just always seems to do it’s thing and I end up with leaking from the airflow, but not the Blotto! This RTA has not leaked a drop. Mind you, I’ve been a responsible adult and taken it off of my mod when not in use and stored it upside down, but of the weeks I’ve been using it as my daily, nothing, not even a little seepage.

She can get a little finicky on the build side, but when you’ve done it once, the second time is super simple. I think the major obstacle for me was getting the coil legs to the correct length before putting them in. The tool supplied does a great job, but if you cut the legs a mm shorter, they work a little better.

I’m really impressed with the build quality on this RTA, all of the threads are super smooth, with no catches, the powder coating on this is great too, holds up to falls quite well.

All in all, this is a no brainer, if you love your restricted airflow vape below 100 Watts and run dual coils, this would be a fantastic tank for you.

Great work guys.
