Vapefly Manners Pod Review

Vapefly Manners Pod Review

I’ve got something extra new for you today, only released this week, is Vapefly’s latest Pod device!

The “Manners” Pod is marketed as a bit of a masculine and stylish little carry around device, with a few innovations in design, as well as Vapefly’s personal touch.

Even if you haven’t heard of Vapefly, you might recognise some of their Sub tanks, and RTA’s. They teamed up with German 103 to bring out a range of top notch, quality tanks with names such as the Kriemhild, and Brunhilde. You might also remember them from their excellent Mouth to Lung range of tanks of the Galaxies name.

They’ve released a couple of Pod devices before, the Jester, and only of late, the TGO Pod, which were very well received, and are known as great quality systems. Now they’ve tried their hands on a much smaller Pod device, one to rival the Caliburn, and various other stick Pods with that familiar pocketable size.

Let’s take a look at the Vapefly Manners Pod!!

Big thanks goes to Vapefly for sending this directly through to me for review!

General Info

The Manners Pod is a little bit different, while the size and general shape of the device will draw similarities with other stick pods on the market, such as the Caliburn, the XROS, Potento and many more, that’s where the similarities end, because we all know Vapefly like to do things a little bit differently!

While the Manners Pod shares a similar size to many stick mods already on the market, it features a 650mah internal battery, 2ml e-liquid capacity in the one piece Pods, USB Type-C fast charging, with both button fire, and auto-draw available so you can vape the way you like to.

The Body

The main body of the Manners Pod is CNC’d out of Alluminium Alloy on a 5 axis CNC machine, to get it’s unusual shape. It’s long and slim, but without the square ends like many others, instead featuring a more skewed shape with angled base, as well as similarly angled Pods.

There is some pin-striping down both sides of the device that trace around the contours of the unique shape, further emphasising it’s masculine design.

The top section of the body houses the recess for the Pod which also has a clever little cutout so you can see you’re eliquid levels, the usual 2 pin connection for the pod as well as 2 magnets to hold the Pod in.

On each side, there is a roughly 2mm airflow hole with a single button a little further down on one side. This not only fires the device but allows you to turn the pod off and on with 5 clicks.

On the front you’ll find an LED indicator that tells you your battery levels by the colour that it flashes when firing, as well as various protection status’s if anything should ever go wrong.

On the base is where you’ll find your USB Type C port for charging in a flash.

The PODs

The Pods carry the same stylish skewed angles of the main body, with satin black mouth pieces that are cut at an almost 45 degree angle, and clear tank so you can easily see your e-liquid levels.

They are a one piece design (non-removable coils) with a fill port on the side, and 2 magnets on the base to make sure you get a good connection when inserted.

You’ll get 2 Pods in the box, both with different resistances, but more importantly, both with different coils inside.

  • 1.0 Ohm Pod
This Pod has a mesh honeycomb coil in it (Vapefly’s freecore mesh) and puts out some excellent flavour, whilst also using a little more power than the other. You’ll also get a looser draw from this one too, which feels more like a restricted DTL airflow than a Mouth to Lung.
  • 1.4 Ohm Pod
This one is has a little bit more of a tighter draw to it, almost what I’d call a MTL draw, some might argue that it’s a loose MTL, but it’s not quite tight enough for how I like my MTL vapes to be.
Instead of a mesh coil, this one has a bottom vertical coil, which I’m assuming is a single wound Kanthal kind of build. (I haven’t pulled it apart)
I think I like this coil best for this device due to the tighter draw and the longer battery life, both coils put out some fantastic flavour though, even if they are not quite MTL coils.

Airflow

The Manners Pod has 2 airflow holes drilled into the sides of the body, (where I have my fingers in the photo above) they’re about 2mm in diameter, and allow a lot of airflow through for a Pod device. Combined with the 1Ohm coil, you’ll get a tight and restricted DTL draw, and with the 1.4 Ohm coil a slightly tighter yet ‘not quite’ MTL draw. I’d call it an open mouth to lung draw.

You can hold your fingers over the airflow holes in the side of the body to get the airflow a little tighter so there is a workaround, but I would have liked to have seen a much tighter draw straight out of the box.

Battery

The Manners Pod comes with an internal 650mah battery, which WILL last you all day, considering the high resistance of the Pods, as well as the style of vaping you’re going to do with this one.

In a pinch though, you can plug in your USB Type-C charge cable and get 1amp charging to get it fully charged in around 40 minutes.

Filling

Filling is simple. There is a silicone plug in the side of the Pod that you unplug to fill. The fill hole is an excellent size, and allows most e-liquid nozzles to fit without causing any back flow of e-liquid.
I did notice that the centre airflow tube and coil does hold a little eliquid either side of it and can leave some air pockets when filling, but if you do it slowly, you won’t have any issues.

Any Leaks?

I’ve experienced absolutely no leaking from the Manners Pod, not even any condensation under the Pod. Clean as a whistle!

Usage

There’s not a lot going on with this Pod, there are 2 ways to vape, using the auto draw and also firing using the button. I haven’t noticed any change in power between the two, so that leaves just the basic functions.

  • 5 Clicks of the button to power on/off
  • Push the button to see the battery level via the LED colour (the LED also lights up when you’re vaping)
Red = Battery less than 30%
    Blue = Battery 30-70%
Green = Battery greater than 70%
  • There is a vibrating chip in the Manners Pod also, I’ve only ever noticed it vibrate whenever I put a pod in, but it’s a nice touch.

Pros:

  • Slim pocketable design
  • Excellent flavour
  • Auto-draw and button fire vaping
  • All day vaping
  • USB Type-C charging
  • No leaking

Cons:

  • No real MTL draw (it’s quite loose)

Where to Buy:

Vapefly don’t have an online store at present, but you should be able to find the Manners Pod from Health Cabin. Be aware that this product has only just been released so you might not be able to find it available straight away, but rest assured I’m sure plenty of stores will pick it up in the coming weeks.

Conclusion

The Manners Pod is quite interesting in both utility and shape, you really can’t expect anything less from Vapefly, they do certainly go above and beyond when it comes to styling and innovation.

From a build perspective, it’s a quality bit of kit, with some really great features, from the great tasting Pods, right through to the small things like the vibration when inserting a Pod.

The 650mah battery combined with the high resistance coils, will get you through an entire day without having to recharge, with excellent flavour as well.

I’ve really enjoyed using this little Pod, with the exception of the airflow. Unfortunately I just can’t get past the fact that it’s a much more open airflow that I’d expect from this type of device, but those who love a more open Mouth to Lung experience will enjoy it a lot.

All in all, Vapefly have developed an excellent device with the option of slightly different power hit and airflow depending on which resistance Pod you use. My final word, a 1.4ohm Pod with a much tighter airflow would push the Manners Pod close to the top for similar devices in this category.

Nice work guys!
