e-Juice Review: Trew Brew – Grape ‘N’ Gum

Welcome back you lot. Today I’ve got a different brand to check out, it’s likely a brand you’ve never seen before, but something you might want to give a try! I’m all about trying new flavours, and it’s always a blast to help brands get a bit more exposure in the marketplace, and help show off what they can do!

If you haven’t heard of Trew Brew before, it’s the brain child of a bloke named Colin, who’s had a pretty typical quit journey, well, typical for a vaper anyway, you know the drill, we love it, think it’s the best thing since sliced bread and before you know it, everyone we know is a vaper.

Well that is exactly what happened here, everyone started vaping, so Colin decided he’d take a crack at making his own e-liquids to keep all of these vapers cheering! And so he did! He even built his own clean room, so that he could be sure he was putting out the best product possible!

So let’s get stuck in and take a look at some flavours from Trew Brew!

Specifications:

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, I get an instant hit of that really rounded out, base note of bubblegum, it’s more of a traditional bubblegum, the type you’d get in a bubblegum ball, or a strip from a vending machine. That typical washed out fruit blend of strawberry and banana artificial flavouring with a little sweetness thrown in for good measure.
The bubble gum is the dominant note in this, and it continues to be, right through the inhale and exhale process.

As the inhale continues, I notice the grape slowly creep in, with it’s slightly tart, sharper and juicier flavour creating a deeper profile than the underlying bubblegum. Getting toward the top of the inhale and tipping over, this is where you’ll notice the grape the most, it adds more body to the bubblegum, and gives a more complex feel overall.

This doesn’t last for too long however, as the grape slowly fades out again over the exhale, allowing the bubblegum to gradually feed back in and take its place as the dominant note again, the further you get in the exhale.

You’re left with an artificial sweetener feel on your tongue, and a washed out bubblegum aftertaste at the end.

My Thoughts

Trew Brew have done a great job getting the bubblegum to sit at such a strong level in this flavour. Bubblegum can be quite a weak or washed out flavour, and is really difficult to get it to a dominant level in any flavour, much less against a grape.

Having said that, I would have preferred to see a little more of the grape. While it is there, it’s not at the strength that I would have expected, and leaves a little to be desired. I was looking forward to a juicier, and more dynamic grape that would blend down to the bubblegum pulling up the background rather than the other way around.
Instead this is a little washed out, with the grape not really making a noticeable contribution, you could almost be forgiven for thinking that this is a pure bubblegum flavour if you’re taste-buds aren’t so sensitive.

The bubblegum is a nice mix, not overbearing, but still strong enough that you can’t miss it. It mimics the real thing quite well without straying from that familiar original bubblegum profile.

All in all, a really pleasant flavour to vape, and is an easy all day vape, something you’ll gravitate toward when filling your tank!
