e-Juice Review: Rock Bee from Secret Bunker Vapour

e-Juice Review: Rock Bee from Secret Bunker Vapour

I’ve got another flavour from Secret Bunker Vapour for you all today. This next flavour is of course from their Energy drink range that I’m taking a look at currently.

If you’re not familiar with Secret Bunker Vapour, they hail from New South Wales, and made waves on the vape scene with their super realistic energy drink flavours “Red Bee” and “Aqua Bee”, obviously Red Bull profiles.

Well, they’ve now recently added to their offerings and created flavours dedicated to several other energy drink profiles.

Today I’ll be reviewing “Rock Bee” from Secret Bunker Vapour’s energy drink range.

(This e-liquid was supplied by Secret Bunker Vapour for review. )

Flavour Description

[From the website]
Want to feel like a Rock Star doing a concert on the tropical beach? Well get your big serving of sticky Guava ready that gets drizzled with a hint of watery Pear. You will be running a muck in no time.
But don’t panic, we didn’t leave out the famous Taurine hints with this mix so ROCK ON!

The Review

At first I was a little taken back by this one, I thought, surely the original RockStar energy drink couldn’t possibly have Guava in it, and it doesn’t, instead it looks like Secret Bunker Vapour have taken the profile of the Rockstar ‘Punched Tropical Guava’, and blended according to that.

I have the original Rockstar here, (black can) and besides the Guava, you’d be surprised at how well this e-liquid matches even the original flavour.

In contrast to my last review of SBV’s take on “Monster” energy, which by the way has quite a strong apple note, this one, “Rockstar” is instead, dialed back a little, it’s smoother, with more of a Pear note than an apple. Secret Bunker knew this, and have made sure to get the profile right regardless of the Guava added. Using Pear simply works, and gets the flavour feeling right.

SBV have hit this flavour head on, with smooth Guava, blended Pear, and a bite that only an energy drink can provide!

Individual Notes

Sweet Guava is the driver of this flavour, its dominant throughout the vape, with it’s sweet, yet slightly dry texture, it really ties this up as a more tropical flavour than straight energy drink. There is a juicy component to it, but it does come across a little dry at times.

Pear is a background note throughout the whole flavour, it’s a juicy, even flavour, sweet yet a little reserved, but does have quite a bit of body to it.
Not quite as bitey as an apple, but still brings a brightness to the whole profile.

The energy drink components are of course here also, sharper, tarter, slightly bitter taurine carries through as a sort of undertone to the guava and pear.

Inhale & Exhale

The Guava is an instant hit on the inhale, you’ll notice it right away, with it’s rounded out yet bright profile, a little bit of floral, but an abundance of tropical ambience. It’s not as strong as it will be at this point, as with most flavours.

As you inhale, you can expect things to intensify as you go, with the Guava well and truly seated as the main profile flavour, but you’ll also now notice a juicy pear pulling in, and adding some moistness to the vape.

At the top of the inhale, sweet pear and Guava blend cleanly, creating the bulk of the profile, an inherent solid and full textured feel, with a light dryness, contrasted with the Pear’s juicy nature. You’ll get a bite from the energy drink addition, as well as a slight bitterness on the back of the tongue creating a very bright contrast to the Guava.

Over to the exhale, things don’t change a lot here, but a bit of the edge is taken off of the brighter notes, most notably the energy drink, while the pear tries to push through the dominant Guava through to the end of the vape.

Final thoughts

Be forewarned, the smell of the Guava that was used in this can be a little…. musty. While it’s more of a scent that wafts around the room than one that affects the flavour, I feel as though I need to note it. I’ve been told in no uncertain terms, “Do not vape that inside”.

Having said that, this is quite a good rendition of a “Rockstar” energy drink, there’s a fullness to the sharper notes, while the Guava and Pear sweetness really drive things to a tropical feel.

The energy drink’s taller, sharper notes are genuinely well blended, they seem quite distinct from the other energy drink flavours, and have a profile of their very own, further pushing that “Rockstar” flavour.

All in all, quite a nice flavour, and tastes just like the real thing. If I were to change anything, I’d like to see how it goes with a different Guava, something that doesn’t smell so musty, something a little juicier, that can lift that mid range up a little too.

Great work guys!

Colour:

Clear

Aroma:

Guava

Coil and wick damage:

Not a lot of damage to wicks or coils here, I’m getting minimal gunking which I’m surprised about, I expected more, considering how sweet these flavours are.

PG/VG Ratio:

70VG/30PG

Texture:

Musty Guava with sharper energy drink highlights

Steeping:

No need to steep this one.

Presentation:

Wonderful presentation from Secret Bunker Vapour. Their new branding is eye-catching and very professional.

I received 60ml tinted chubby gorilla bottles with light blue caps. They have the usual child-proof caps and tamper proof seals, with a needle dispenser to drip your liquid.

The labels are wonderful, with shiny text and artifacts, the general feel of the design is very cool, with patterned background, large blue coloured shapes with the flavour name and bar at the bottom colour coded to the flavour.

All of the information you might need is here, including the brand, and name of the flavour front and centre, Bottle size, warnings, Ingredients, PG/VG ratio, website url, and social media icons.

Secret Bunker Vapour also put ‘authentication’ stickers on their bottles too, with batch number, so if ever you get a bad batch (you probably never will), they can trace it back to a specific mix. It’s a really nice touch!

Test rigs:

Original Haku Cruiser running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod/variable wattage mod.
Haku Xeta, in Billet Box, 0.3 stainless single coil, running about 30Watts on temperature mode.
