OFRF NexMini Pod Review

OFRF NexMini Pod Review

I’ve got another POD review for you today, but its not your usual POD Mod or your auto draw style device. While it’s super simple, and easy to use, this new offering from the stylish OFRF is great looking, and there’s also a little innovation to it.

OFRF aligned themselves with Wotofo a while back, which really is a fantastic pairing, OFRF with their stylish designs, (Wotofo products are quite striking too) and Wotofo with their fantastic coil range, you really are getting the best of both worlds!

Let’s take a look at the OFRF Nexmini Pod!!

Big thanks goes to OFRF/Wotofo for sending this directly through to me for review!

General Info

When you see this little device straight out of the box, it’ll pique your interest quite a lot. It’s simple, yet elegantly designed, with a few subtle differences from other products currently already on the market.

The NexMini sports a 2.5ml liquid capacity in it’s tinted Pods, rather than long and slim, OFRF have opted for a square tubular shape, which feels really comfortable and is really lightweight too.

You also have an 800mah internal battery which will give you “most” of the day vaping, variable wattage, a maximum of 30 Watts, a USB Type C charge port, adjustable airflow, and side filling through a silicone plug for quick and easy refills.

The Body

Measuring in at about 110 x 19mm in diameter, the OFRF Nexmini is small and lightweight due to it’s alluminium construction. It’s not slimmed down like other POD devices around at the moment, instead it’s of a square tubular shape, and while it might not look comfortable at all, it actually is. It’s really comfortable to hold and use.

The main body is a nice size, with an inset at the top for push in PODs, a small airhole on either side, black and white screen on the front, large square fire button with two smaller up down wattage buttons and a USB Type C charge port on the bottom.

The styling is a little inconsistant with a meshed insert on one side, an embossed OFRF on the other. It is some nice design, but from a visual perspective, I would have liked that mesh insert all the way around. I think it looks really striking and works really well as it works in well with the whole NexMesh concept.

The PODs & Coils

While the PODS are your usual tinted PCTG plastic push in pods, OFRF have opted for more of a duckbill mouth piece that extends out creating a stopper for your lips when in use. If you stop to think about it, it’s quite comfortable, and allows you to push your lips right up to that ledge creating a great seal for a better vaping experience.

Because these pods are quite square OFRF can fit a lot into them, 2.5mls in fact which is pretty decent for a strictly MTL designed pod. It also allows them to include some larger coils. Which are fantastic and not only have superb flavour, but also have an additional airflow ring on the bottom of them.

Filling is done from the side of the POD by lifting the silicone plug to expose a pretty big fill hole. You wont have any issues with backpressure here, and you can fill these pretty fast due to the extra room the large hole provides.
The silicone plug fits really well, but is also quite easy to unplug when it’s time to fill.
The tinting of the PODs doesn’t hinder filling at all, and you can easily see where your eliquid level is at all times.

The coils for the NexMini, push into the base of the POD, and have a nice amount of friction, keeping things tight and snug, but still able to be removed easily when you need to.

The two coils that come with the OFRF NexMini are of 2 different types. One a mesh coil, the other single wire build.

  • M22 nexMESH Coil
The Mesh coil is my favourite and puts out some amazing flavour. It’s a 0.6ohm coil rated from 13-20Watts with a best wattage of around 18 Watts.
  • M21 Parallel Coil
The M21 Parallel coil can run at a slightly higher wattage, and also puts out some fantastic flavour, just not as crisp as the Mesh coil does. This coil 0.6 Ohms and is rated for use between 15-25Watts with a best wattage of about 20 Watts.

Airflow

The OFRF NexMini has more direct airflow adjustment than most, with the provided airflow adjustment ring directly under the coil.
This airflow ring has 5 airflow holes and allows quite a range of airflow options.

With air coming in from outside the device via a small hole on either side of the body, the air then feeds directly under the coil via the adjustment ring at the bottom of the coil. You’ll be able to get quite an open airflow, or close it down quite a way if you prefer a tighter MTL vape.

Battery

As I’ve mentioned a few times above, the OFRF has an 800mah internal battery with charging happening from underneath the device, via the USB Type C Charging port. It’s only a small battery capacity, but with the use of the ‘up to’ 20 Watt MTL coils, should give you great vaping for most of the day. It charges pretty quickly with it’s 1-2Amp charge rate, charging in under an hour from empty to full.

Filling

Filling is achieved via the silicone plug on the side of the POD. Lifting this plug reveals quite a large fill port with no real issues of backpressure at all due to it’s size. You’ll easily get most eliquid nozzles into this hole for no mess filling.

Pop the silicone plug back in and you’re good to go!

Any Leaks?

No leaking at all. However, I have noticed that due to the tolerances (fits really well) that I’ve needed to make sure this fill port and plug are quite clean of eliquid or I end up with eliquid spreading along the outside’s of the POD when in use.

Usage

The OFRF Nexmini is pretty straight forward, there is only push button firing, no auto draw function, which is a little disappointing to me, but I do know many would prefer it that way.

Operation is simple, the fire button acts as the on/off with your usual 5 clicks off and on, three to lock the device, and if you press the fire button and the up wattage button, it resets the puff counter.

The OFRF NexMini also has various protections built into the NexChip and the top of the device is supposed to be waterproof, stopping any e-liquid ingress into the main section of the device.

Pros:

  • Small and comfortable
  • Amazing flavour from coils
  • Adjustable Airflow
  • Elegantly designed
  • Easy to use

Cons:

  • Small battery size, you may need to recharge before the end of the day.

Where to Buy:

The OFRF NexMini Pod is priced reasonable well at about $32US, and is available from Wotofo’s Online Store. Other stores including local Australian stores are bound to pick this up sometime over Christmas.

Conclusion

All in all, I’ve been quite impressed by the OFRF NexMini Pod, it achieves a really nice tight MTL draw that many do not, has excellent flavour via it’s two different coil types, and comes in a form factor that is both comfortable and makes erganomic sense.

I was a little disappointed to find that I couldn’t switch on an auto-draw feature somehow, and that it’s only button fire, but that’s a small niggle, which I suspect won’t be shared among other vapers.

Great work guys, this POD does a wonderful job for a small portable device. Perfect for out and about, if you don’t want to carry a large device with you, and have power and eliquid for a few hours while you’re out.
