eJuice Review 229: The Purple Heifer by Clouded Visions

These guys are no strangers to me, I’ve reviewed a heap of their flavours before and every single one of them has delivered on flavour, texture and expectations, all getting top ratings and glowing reviews.

Have I got a treat for you guys this week!

Clouded Visions have been hard at work with some newly released juices as well as some pre-releases that you can’t get your mitts on yet. And I’ll be giving them a crack and letting you all know what to expect!

If they’re anything like their existing range, I think I’m in for a treat too!

Today I’ll be reviewing “The Purple Heifer”!

The Review:

First of all, my apologies folks for my absence, I’d picked up the flu last week and as a consequence, lost my sense of taste and smell. Thus no juice reviews until I was confident that my tastebuds were back to normal.

Now that I’m back, boy have I picked a great juice to start with!

“The Purple Heifer” is an unreleased juice, that is simply smashing. It’s a lovely sweet grape, almost bubblegum flavoured, layered on top of Clouded Vision’s signature thick Vanilla/Cream Heifer base.”

I knew that I was going to love this one, the aroma is just lovely, and the flavour is just as good if not better.

We all know the familiar Heifer base, it’s a thick creamy Vanilla, sweet and leaning toward a vanilla icecream.

Mixing a cream base with a grape? I was a little sceptical.

Let me explain. Many grapes, actually most that I have tried, have a slight astringent quality, that can be quite sharp on the tongue. Not exactly suited to mix with a creamy base. Using grape in a high percentage will even further that astringency, introducing some florals and quite an artificial, and sometimes unpleasant aftertaste.

Not so with The Purple Heifer!

I have no idea of the concentrate used, but it’s simply brilliant. There are no unwanted chemical notes, it has to be the smoothest grape Ive had with this level of intensity. Ever.

This grape is quite similar to a grape Hubba Bubba, sweet, full bodied, and really makes you think of the bubblegum. I’m finding some faint blueberry like notes in here also, Rhys from Clouded Visions says “No”, but I swear I can taste them. Perhaps there is a shared molecule or two between them, or it’s just the remnants of my flu coming back to haunt me.

On the inhale, I get mainly the smooth sweet grape, slightly less bubblegum-esque but a rounded flavour none-the-less, with light lashings of vanilla and cream.

The exhale intensifies all of the flavours with the grape taking on more of the bubblegum like qualities, sweet and juicy, and the Heifer base of Vanilla and lovely thick cream following in behind to add even more body and silky smoothness to the vape. If you can imagine a Grape Hubba Bubba ice-cream, this is it.

I can’t talk this flavour up enough folks, several of my favourite juices are from Clouded Visions, and this is just another to add to that ever growing list.

Full marks!
