e-Juice Review: Cosmopolitan from Hitman Vaping

e-Juice Review: Cosmopolitan from Hitman Vaping

We’re at the tail end of this awesome range of cocktail flavours, I’ve taken a look at nearly all of them now, and can safely say that the profiles are not only a little left field, but smooth, tasty, and quite good replicas of their intended beverages.

Today’s flavour is likely to peak some interest, this popular drink has a rich history, enjoyed for its blend of bitter and sweet tones.

Today I’ll be reviewing “Cosmopolitan” from Hitman Vaping.

(This e-liquid was supplied by Hitman Vaping for review. )

Flavour Description

[From the website]
A contemporary approach to a timeless classic dating back to the 70s, the Cosmopolitan features a fruity blend of Lime Tahiti, Cranberry, and Blood Orange, accentuated by a distinct dryness of Russian Vodka.

Initial Thoughts

I didn’t think this type of flavour would be my cup of tea but I’ve really been enjoying it. The contrast between bitter and sweet notes is profound and something you need to be prepared for, but I think it works really well with the flavours that have been used.

Be warned, this can be quite bitter, but read on!

Bitter and smooth, Blood Orange, Lime and Cranberry blend with Russian Vodka to create this timeless classic!

Individual Notes

One of the more noticeable flavours is the Blood Orange, this is actually about the only ingredient in this flavour that provides a little sweetness. While in this, the blood orange is dialed back quite a lot, you do still notice the bittersweet punch that it provides, and that lovely juiciness that only a citrus can provide.

Lime adds a sour note to the mix, a brighter citrus hit that folds in with the Blood orange, making the citrus even more dynamic.

Of course there is Cranberry here too. Cranberry is the most dominant flavour in a Cosmopolitan. The bitterness of the Cranberry is unparalleled, being both bitter, and dry, with quite a punch to it.
The fruit notes come through as almost sweet, with a much richer feel than other fruits, still juicy, but a different feel to sweet flavours.

I can’t say that I experience any of the Vodka notes. Vodka is usually quite bitter in itself so it’s likely that it is hidden by the other bitter flavours in this mix.

Inhale & Exhale

The Lime, Blood orange and Cranberry are an instant hit, and you’ll notice them straight away, strengthening in intensity as the inhale continues, creating a real wall of flavour, both bitter, yet quite sweet early on.

As you approach the top of the inhale, a hint of sour from the Lime pushes through, as well as the brightness of the blood orange creating a really dynamic impact. This push of bitter sweetness follows through right to the top.

As you begin to exhale, expect that sweetness to disappear as the Cranberry picks up at first offering up a fruity almost berry like note, quickly turning to a wash of bitterness. While you might expect some other flavour inflections to happen at this point, they really don’t. The Cranberry itself carries through the rest of the exhale, with quite a bitter juiciness.

Final thoughts

I’ll say it straight away, this flavour really isn’t for me, but, I do appreciate the complexities and the way each of these similar notes come together.
The whole profile creates quite a bright, and cleansing feel, and being void of any real sweetness helps to get this across the line.

I actually have had a cosmopolitan before, and while many bartenders have their own blends, this does ring true to the real thing, and has it’s own spin on the old favourite. Instead of Cointreau, Blood Orange has been used for that orange note, which actually works because Blood orange has a light bitterness in it, that helps to bridge the lime and cranberry.

While not my thing, this is a great mix, and if you enjoy a good Cosmo, you’re going to love it.

A job well done guys!

Presentation:

Wonderful presentation here. Hitman have gone the extra peg and had boxes made for their e-liquid bottles, each offset printed, with a UV clear printed over the top giving a brilliantly professional finish, designed to match the bottle’s branding and look.

I received 60ml tinted Chubby gorilla bottles with child-proof and tamper-proof caps, and needle tip dispensers.

The labels are a lovely classy satin/matt black printed with a silver underlay. Front and center are the main flavour and brand name, with an image of the beverage, a lovely hand-drawn piece of artwork.

On the back is where you’ll find all your information. Manufacturing details, ingredients, warnings, PG/VG ratio, bottle size and zero nicotine declaration. You’ll also find a batch number, as well as my favourite part, an ISO 6 certified clean-room stamp. Yep these are bottled in a certified clean room!

Test rigs:

Original Haku Cruiser running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod/variable wattage mod.
Haku Xeta, in Billet Box, 0.3 stainless single coil, running about 30Watts on temperature mode.
