eJuice Review 224: Red vs Blue by Ohm Away From Home

The “Ohm Away From Home” range has popped up on my radar a few times this year and had sparked my curiosity, of course resulting with me vowing to pick up a few bottles in the future. Well, we all know what happens when I do that! I get bogged down with other reviews and completely forget about my “must try” list.

It was a god-send then, that AVATAR, the new vendor advocacy group came out with their cool little ejuice packs! I grabbed a couple of these bags, and what do you know, this little gem was in there!

By the way, if you’re in the market for trying some beaut South Australian ejuices, you should pick up one of these AVATAR packs, they are great value at only $50 for x5 random doublers, available through most South Australian vape shops and the proceeds of the sale goes toward vaping advocacy in South Australia.

So let’s get on with it then!

Today I’ll be reviewing “Red vs Blue” from their “Glorious a.k.a.” series!

From the website:

The internet has provided us a number of significant cultural advances. Red vs Blue is not one of them. A super sweet raspberry jam, stuffed into a donut. Perfect for camping the kill-zone.

The Review:

Raspberry based flavours are some of my favourites, so is it any surprise that I think this is is a fantastic juice, right from the first toot?

“Red vs Blue” is a sweet sweet, realistic raspberry jam with light doughy bakery notes, did I mention the sweetness?

The raspberry here is great, it’s a little realistic and a little candy which is a brilliant combination that takes advantage of the sweetness to counter the tart. Think of it like a juicy version of Allen’s raspberry jellies!

The dough, or bakery, is really light, but as the description says, is reminiscent of a doughnut. Not a cinnamon doughnut and not one with icing, just a plain sweet dough doughnut. It adds a little dry doughiness to the exhale which is quite an interesting texture.

On the inhale it’s all about the raspberry. Light and bright, it gives you just enough to get you really excited waiting for the full flavour hit.

The exhale is where all of the magic happens. The raspberry matures into a very sugary sweet jam, and totally dominates your tastebuds. You really notice the sweetness here, there is a sugary consistency making this very jam-like.

At about the midway point of the exhale, you’ll notice the dough creep in. It’s very light so don’t worry if you don’t catch it straight away. The raspberry is quite dominant. The dough rises and falls away with an almost dry texture to it, leaving you with a lovely raspberry jam and dry sweet dough finish.

I’m totally in love with this one, it’s really struck a chord, there is one thing that I don’t like though, and of course it’s minor as unfortunately its par for the course with these sugary sweet flavours. The coil gunking.

I’m currently getting about half a day on my rda before I need to dry burn and rewick. On a tank you should get longer, but again, this is all part of vaping a sugary sweet juice. You just have to grin and bare the wick changes.

So all in all, a really lovely flavour that I would happily vape all day, it’s a great mix, and I’m happy to change wicks occasionally for what is a fantastic vape.

Will that get annoying after a while? Probably.
Would I keep vaping it anyway? Probably.

Colour:

Clear/Very light honey tint

Scent:

Raspberry

Coil damage:

Very small amount of coil clogging, due to sweeteners.

PG/VG Ratio:

30PG/70VG

Texture:

Full bodied thick texture

Steeping:

Steeping is a good idea to help all of the notes smooth out and blend nicely.

Presentation:

Pretty good presentation here, I received a clear 30ml unicorn gorilla bottle with 15ml of doubler in it. The label is quite simple with the Ohm away from home logo and juice name printed in greyscale on a parchment coloured label. All expected ingredients and warnings are on there.

Test rigs:

O-Atty RDA with single SS coil @ 0.2 ohms on a bottom feed mechanical mod.
