Voopoo Drag Nano 2 Review

Voopoo Drag Nano 2 Review

Large Pod mods, small stick pods, short pods, tall pods, removeable pods, replaceable pod coils, PnP, TPP, variable wattage, temp control, adjustable airflow, adjustable power settings, MTL, DTL, pretty much any style of vaping or any feature you could think of on a vaping device, and more specifically Pod devices, Voopoo have done before.

When you’ve done it all before, it doesn’t really leave a lot of room for improvement, but the Drag Nano 2 is one exception to that rule. The original Drag Nano came out quite a while ago, and while it was a good little device, there were a few issues that users reported, that could have made a big improvement. Well, Voopoo have listened, and we now have the Drag Nano 2!

Let’s take a look at Voopoo’s new Drag Nano 2 Pod!

Big thanks goes to the legends at Voopoo, for sending this through for me to review!

General Info

Just like Uwell did with the Caliburn and the Koko, Voopoo have done so with the Vinci Pod and the Drag Nano 2.
If you haven’t seen their Vinci Pod, I highly recommend it, I actually did a review of the Vinci Pod a little while ago and you’ll find that the specs are very much the same. The Vinci and the new Drag Nano 2 also take the same Pods too!

The Drag Nano 2 is quite a small pocketable device, complete with metal lanyard so you can sling it around your neck if you’re on the go. It has a decent sized 800mah internal battery, a 2ml e-liquid capacity, 3 preset power settings, adjustable airflow, USB Type C charging, and operates as an exclusively auto-draw (inhale to fire) style vape.

The Drag Nano 2 does differ slightly from the Vinci Pod. This time around Voopoo have given us an extra 5 watts of power bringing the max wattage of this up to 20 Watts, and 3 preset power settings, something the Vinci lacks and is very much welcomed on the Drag Nano 2.

The Body

The main body of the Drag Nano 2 is made from Zinc Alloy with various colours and styles available, some leather, some polycarbonate, all of them striking and modern looking. It’s a solid little unit, mine has a chrome reflective finish, which is not only durable but seems to also not get fingerprint marks all over it, which is brilliant.

Up top is of course the Pod recess, where pods and pushed home to fit, there are no magnets here, but they’re not needed, as the Pods click in nicely with little resistance, but also hold quite tight. A decent flick or drop won’t see the pod separate from the main body easily, quite solid.
Next to the pod recess is a little lanyard loop which is handy and the lanyard that comes with it is a metal weave style lanyard that gives off a quality vibe.

On one edge of the body you’ll find all of the controls. An adjustable airflow slider toward the top, 3 LED’s below it for viewing battery level and which power setting you’re on, and a mode button that you use for both of those also.
Underneath, as you’d expect, you’ll find a USB Type C charging port.

The PODs

As I mentioned earlier, the Drag Nano 2 takes the very same Pods as the Vinci Pod. They are closed units, so you can’t remove the coil, but they are refillable via a fill port at the top of the Pod once you’ve removed the black mouthpiece.
The duckbill mouth piece is quite comfortable, and the Pods are completely clear, allowing you to see your eliquid level easily at any time, even when the pod is running quite low.

While the Pods are the same, Voopoo have improved them, by removing the side fill port, and instead placing it under the mouthpiece. A much better place for it in my opinion.

You get two different pods in the kit:

  • 0.8 Ohm Pod
This one is better suited for slightly more open airflow, and it pushes out some fantastic flavour all the while providing some nice thick vapour. This is my favourite.
  • 1.2 Ohm Pod
This is aimed more toward the die hard MTL vaper, having a higher resistance, meaning that it’s a little cooler, and better suited to a tighter draw. It does a good job, and works best on medium to high setting with your airflow about halfway.

Airflow

Speaking of airflow, the slider on the side of the Drag Nano 2 adjusts your airflow. Voopoo have done a great job with this and the level of airflow choice is spot on. It varies between a really tight MTL style airflow right through to a more open MTL or very tight DTL experience. The operation of the switch is set solidly and while it may be a little stiff to begin with, is super smooth, and you’re able to get small incremental changes of your airflow really easily.

As you can see from the photos above, the airflow comes in through the side, into the device, and then up and under the base of the pod via the two airflow holes in the Pod recess. The precise fitment of the Pod limits any extra air coming in around the edges, which leaves you with quite a dense and direct airflow. Top marks for this Voopoo, its a very smooth and purposeful airflow, with no excessive extra air getting in.

Battery

You’ve got an 800mah internal battery in the Drag Nano 2 which is a substantial size for the type of device this is. Because the Pods are upward of 0.8ohm of resistance, running at under 20 Watts, you shouldn’t have any trouble getting through an entire day of charge. In the event of a flat battery, the battery will charge from empty to full in about 45 minutes. Not the fastest, but fast enough for this little power puncher.

Filling

Filling. It’s super simple. If you’re familiar with the caliburn, then you would have seen something like this before. Just snap off the mouthpiece, and fill after peeling back the black silicone cover. Too easy.

Any Leaks?

None to note. I have noticed the smallest bit of eliquid under the pod from time to time, but it’s not even been enough to worry about cleaning up to be honest. I’ve often carried this around in the front pocket of my jeans all day long and even the extra heat from being in my pocket hasn’t caused a leak. This is quite a clean vaping little device.

Pros:

  • Small comfortable size
  • Excellent flavour and vapour
  • Great airflow slider adjustment
  • Perfect range of MTL air settings
  • 3 power modes
  • Fast charging
  • Sleek and stylish

Cons:

  • None

Where to Buy:

Because these are pretty new of the press, you’ll only be able to pick up the Voopoo Drag Nano 2 from Voopoo’s Ali Express store, they are available for $33.99 USD. They will start filtering out to vape stores very soon, I’m expecting them to be available at around the $40 AUD price point.

Conclusion

I’m actually really impressed by the Drag Nano 2. It’s the perfect little pocket device, and because the battery will last you all day, it’s something that you can likely even use as a main device, if you’re a MTL vaper, or are used to vaping under 20 Watts. Throw it in your pocket for the day and you’re good to go.

Great flavour, fantastic airflow and dense vapour, means Voopoo have hit the nail on the head with this one. I honestly have no complaints at all on this one, and that is a very rare thing.

Excellent work on this one guys, it’s a great little pod!!
