Hellvape Arez 120 Mod Reviewed

Hellvape Arez 120 Mod Reviewed

I’ve got something a little special for you today kids. This device has had quite a lot of anticipation around it, from both myself and many others looking forward to see what Hellvape came up with for their widely advertised uni-body device. I will tell you now, they did not disappoint!

You all know Hellvape, they’re the guys that came out with the popular “Dead Rabbit” range of tanks and RDA’s, as well as a tonne of other higher end vape gear over the years. Their known for their quality gear, and their attention to detail. Well none of that has been lost on today’s product, it’s the duck’s nuts, the cat’s meow and a well designed and produced piece of kit.

Let’s take a look at Hellvape’s Arez 120 mod!

Big thanks goes to Vaporstate for sending this directly through to me for review!

General Info & Photos

The new Arez 120 is Hellvape’s latest foray into the device scene, and while other companies are focusing on bringing Pod devices to the consumer, Hellvape have released this all alluminium, uni-body, 120 Watt beast, that not only has the goods, but looks pretty sexy too!

The Arez 120 is a uni-body design, meaning, it is milled from one solid piece of alluminium. Quite a feat for a modern device with chipset, charge port, screen and buttons, and being milled from alluminium, makes sure it’s as lightweight as possible, and this is lightweight!. Without the battery installed, it’s light as a feather!

Hellvape haven’t mucked around with making this overly complicated either, where many newer devices like to throw all of the bells and whistles in, like temp control, ability to adjust curves and god knows whatever other features, the Hellvape Arez does one thing and one thing really well. Wattage mode.

Able to house any one of 3 sizes of batteries, 18650, 20700 and 21700, the Arez 120 will adjust your maximum wattage depending on which one you use. 18650 = 80W, 20700 = 100W and 21700 = 120W.

The Arez 120 comes in 3 different colours at this time, Black, Gunmetal, and Blackish Green. Mine is the Gunmetal version, which has a bit of a blue/grey tinge to it. Love the colour!

The Body

As mentioned earlier the Arez 120 is milled from a single piece of alluminium, besides of course the top housing, and the battery cap. It’s sleek and stylish with some lovely curves to it making it fit in the hand really well, and a lovely satin, almost metallic finish that is smooth to the touch, but not too slippery.

Up top is your 510 connection with gold plated pin, with the top of the device able to fit up to a 26mm atomizer on top without any overhang. The pin doesn’t feel spring loaded, but there is quite a bit of travel there, so there won’t be any issues with atomizers not making a connection, and the gold plated pin will make sure your top gets the maximum amount of electrickery delivered to it that it can.

On the base is your battery cap with vent holes, and USB Type-C charging port.
The USB port on the bottom is a little bit of a disappointment, I would have preferred it be on the side, but I can understand that Hellvape likely didn’t want to mess with the whole aesthetic of the device for something you’ll rarely use anyway. (You are charging your batteries in an external charger aren’t you?)

And on the side, where all the business happens, is quite a striking looking control panel, consisting of large fire button, 2 small adjustment or operational buttons, and a large screen. Everything fits together really nicely, with a near seamless transition between the screen and body, and all buttons having quite a small soft throw, yet feel very high end and functional.

Battery

The Arez can take 3 different battery sizes, 20700 and 21700 batteries will fit without any adapter, and Hellvape have provided an 18650 adapter in the box for you to use if you should need it.

The battery cap is your typical screw in type, it has some really nice threading to it, so little chance of cross-threading, and unless you’re using slightly oversized batteries, tightens down without needing to be cranked down too hard, leaving it quite easy to unscrew in a hurry.

The USB Type C charge port is open to dust and dirt unfortunately, and being on the base is likely to pick a lot up, a cover or placing this on the side of the device would have been a better option.

Usage & Features

While the Arez 120 doesn’t ship with an overload of features, it does do everything one might expect, wattage adjustment, has several safety catches in the chipset, as well as wattage lock, puff counter/reset, and also offers up 7 different background colours for the screen display.

The display is vibrant and is easily seen during the day, no matter which colour you use, and displays all of it’s information clearly and legibly, including Wattage, Resistance, Voltage, Puffs, and Battery Meter.

Operating the Arez is a breeze, and it fires up instantly, offering up a pretty quick response that would rival most other devices on the market. I have found that the fire button needs to be pushed with purpose, a lighter touch often sees the vape cut out while you’re taking a puff, but getting used to giving it a firm push is no big deal.

The basic usage is pretty easy to figure out, but I’ve listed the button combinations below:

  • Turn on/off : 5x clicks of fire button
  • Change colour: Push up/down buttons simultaneously
  • Clear puff counter: Push fire/down buttons simultaneously
  • Lock Wattage: Push fire/up buttons simultaneously

Pros:

  • Lovely styling and finish
  • Instant firing
  • Lightweight and comfortable
  • Simple and straight forward
  • Quality build and higher end feel
  • Takes up to 26mm atomizer
  • Takes x3 types of batteries
  • Attention to detail is top notch

Cons:

  • USB charge port is on the bottom (not really a con)

Where to Buy:

Of course you can probably purchase this direct from Hellvape or one of their other resellers, but who would I be if I didn’t give my mates over at Vaporstate a plug!

Vaportstate have them listed for $120 AUD, which is a pretty good deal for this type of device. These are only new so supply may be low, but check back every few days if you see that they have sold out, they’re getting new shipments in all the time.

Conclusion

I’ve had a great few weeks with this device, it’s never missed a beat and has performed excellently the entire time.
Hellvape have done a wonderful job, making sure their attention to detail is top notch, all the while providing us with a little something special, with quality machining, and some straight up sexy styling in this uni-body device.

The Arez 120 is designed to be easy to use, and more advanced settings have been purposely left out in order to make it not only more user friendly but cater to the majority, and I have to say, I haven’t missed any of the more advanced functionality at all.

Do be aware of this though if you are considering purchasing, there is no TC mode, no Voltage mode, just your straight up Wattage adjustment and that is it, which could also be the reason you might prefer this mod over many others too.

All in all, the Arez 120 is a fantastic device, that is lightweight and punchy, that oozes quality and really does have a high end feel to it.

What a ripper mod from Hellvape, great work guys!!
