eJuice Review 379: Bourbon Baccy by The Barton Vape Co

eJuice Review 379: Bourbon Baccy by The Barton Vape Co

I have another flavour from the Barton Vape Co for you all today.

Most of The Barton Vape Co’s flavours are tobacco based, created with a want to give the average punter trying to give up the cigarettes a really good alternative in vape form.

This is no mean feat. Tobacco flavours are historically unrealistic, almost putrid mixes. No blame put on the juice makers though, as the concentrates that have been available in the past have been simply atrocious, and they’ve had to make do with what was available.

It is knowing this, that pushed these guys to bring out the best flavours that they could. To challenge the assumption that tobacco vapes suck, and produce something that not only filled the void for ex-smokers, but provide some decadent flavours for those with a more discerning palate.

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Bourbon Baccy”.

(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor.)

Flavour Description

A full bodied tobacco flavour infused with bourbon.

The Review:

This one is a full bodied tobacco flavour infused with bourbon basenotes, blended in style. You could be forgiven if you’re expecting a pretty big bang from this stuff, but in my opinion, it works best as the opposite. A delicate balance that you’ll be able to vape all day, without getting tired of.

Sometimes less is more, and in this case, it is totally true, and works really well.

Individual Notes

Tobacco notes are definitely here, however, they are a little lessened and not so apparent as they are in Barton Gold from the last review. There is still a slight grassy/nutty note, but this is lessened also, leaving the tobacco with a 2 stage effect. Instant sweet, grassy/nutty notes, that switch out to a drier, and smokier feel later on in the vape.

The bourbon here is a lightweight yet sweet bourbon, not a completely full textured deal, but it does a good job of providing that basenote as well as adding a little complexity. Added minimally, this bourbon is delicate, and mixed with the tobacco, is a really nice unassuming blend.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, I notice a familiar sweet slightly grassy/nutty tobacco on the inhale, very similar to “Barton Gold”. It not pungent, but an interesting nuance that many tobacco vapes have, it provides that vegetal feel, that natural note.
It’s not as strong in “Bourbon Baccy” as it was in “Barton Gold” which I am pretty happy about, in “Barton Gold” it was just that touch too much, whereas here, I can only assume a little less of it was added to allow for the bourbon notes.

At the turn of the inhale and onto the exhale, the tobacco doesn’t really get stronger, it stays at the same intensity, and changes, from a wet natural feel, to a dry, smokey profile. I notice a light bourbon note come in here on the exhale, not full on, it just plays at the back of your palate, hinting at a much stronger flavour, like it is purposefully teasing you.

As the exhale continues, the smokey tobacco notes are still here, as the spices from the bourbon intensify slightly, still never tipping over the edge of becoming overbearing, just strengthening up enough to give you a good hint of sweet bourbon without knocking anything out of balance.

I’m left with a dry smokey cigarette feel, with undertones of sweet bourbon hitting the spot just nicely.

Final thoughts

“Bourbon Baccy” is a great follow on from “Barton Gold”, it shares pretty similar qualities from the tobacco side, with it’s slight grassy/nut nuance and dry smokiness, but with the extra smooth sweet bourbon finish that is a little refined, and adds a touch of class.

I’ll note that the grassy/nut nuance is not as noticeable in this one as it was in “Barton Gold”, which is great, perhaps the bourbon hides it a little, but either way, I’m glad that that’s the case.

This is a delicate mix, and a slight flavour, that will have you enjoying the smokiness, while hunting for that bourbon note all day long. That’s right guys, this is NOT a punch in the face with flavour, instead, it is meant as an all day vape, that you’ll not get sick of. In fact, for those fresh on the vape, Bourbon Baccy will be one of their go to’s. Their default, their fallback, that flavour that you always come back to because it just works.

Nice work guys.

Presentation:

I’m really liking the clean professional presentation of The Barton range. It’s straight to the point, clear and concise, and visually appealing. I have right here, 30ml black tinted LDPE bottles with child-proof cap and needle tip dispenser. The labels are professionally printed, with a different pattern for each flavour, the Barton Vape Co logo front and centre, as well as the juice name, and the words “Ready to Vape”.

As for information on the labels, they have the usual stuff, but a little more interesting, this is the first time I’ve come across an Aussie vendor going to the trouble of mentioning nuts, soy and dairy. Specifically, “May contain traces of tree nuts, soy and dairy”.
If indeed many eliquids “could” contain any of these things, this should be on every bottle from every vendor. Great work on that guys.

Test rigs:

Haku with slam cap running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
OBS Engine RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
