eJuice Review 400: Black & Yellow by Clouded Visions

My 400th review! Would you look at that! That’s 100 reviews every year for the last 4 years on average.
And who better to be my 400th, than a Clouded Visions eliquid! These guys have been a great supporter of mine over the years, and I couldn’t be happier than to be reviewing one of their flavours on this special occasion 🙂

This one is a little different, a little left field, something that perhaps not everyone will love, but I think it has a little special something to it, and I know I’m not the only one who thinks it’s fantastic.

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Black & Yellow” from Clouded Visions.
(This e-liquid was supplied by the vendor.)

Flavour Description

Black and yellow, black and yellow. Now you’ve got that stuck in your head, heres a flavour you wont easily forget. A unique and fantastic mix of sweet and slightly tart blackcurrant and musky blackberries accompanied by a full bodied, realistic banana.

The Review:

This is one of those flavour combinations where the individual flavours that make up the mix are not so noticeable as the final product. It’s a flavour invention, 3 different notes put together, yet you really don’t notice them all individually.
A little bit like how raspberry and orange mixed together don’t taste like themselves but take on more of a sherbert feel.

This combination creates a really tart inhale, with a sweet yet musky exhale that will leave you not only confused, but in total wonderment at how interesting and tasty this flavour really is!

Individual Notes

Thankfully, I know from the description what is in this, because I don’t think I’d be able to pin-point each of the flavours that are involved if I were left to my own devices. I’d pick a couple, but there is one that I would never have guessed would be in there.

The blackberry (I definitely would have guessed this one) is the usual sweet and tart blackberry, quite a tall note, with a slight acidic background. More natural than artificial, and provides the bite that you get from this juice.

The blackcurrant, similarly provides a tart note, not as tall as the blackberry though, and more rounded. It gives off a blackcurrant juice feel. Not quite a Ribena, but almost a blackcurrant cordial, the juicy sweetness blends with the blackberry creating a really nice mixed berry juice tone.

Here’s the one that I would not have gotten. Banana. After taking my first toot of this flavour I just had to look at the description, and when I saw Banana listed, I really couldn’t believe my eyes. Now that I know that it’s there, I can definitely taste it, even though it is more a supporting note, but without that description, I most likely would have completely missed it.
The realistic banana in this combined with the blackberry and blackcurrant produces quite a musky feel on the exhale, as the tart and acidic berries are softened by the banana’s softer tones.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, it’s all blackberry and blackcurrant. The different tartness and sweetness that comes from both of them, offsets the other creating a really nice berry inhale that sets the stage. There is a tonne of flavour here, bright, yet, dull and rounded all at the same time. Already layered nicely.

Flipping over to the exhale, you begin to think that after that nice strong berry inhale, things are going to continue in the same fashion with maybe a little extra sweetness coming through tapering off toward the end.

Hell no!

There’s no way Clouded Visions were going to let you off that easy!

Instead, you’ll notice a sudden rush of musk, not like the candy, but a floral musky blend as though the sweet acidic berries have been washed over with something a hell of a lot thicker and textured. As the realistic banana continues to wash in, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the flavour generated by this concoction was soapy and a little over-flavoured, but it’s not. It really is just how these ingredients blend together and create that unique taste sensation. Think pleasant soapy (a little floral), not bad soapy (as in overflavoured mess)…..

As the exhale continues, this invention begins to grow on you and you start noticing the juicy texture, the natural sweetness and the brightness that this flavour holds, even with the banana present.

When the vape is finished I guarantee you’ll take another immediate hit, wondering what the hell just happened!

Final thoughts

A very interesting mix from a company not afraid to try something different. I like that this doesn’t just stick to being a blended mix of the 3 main ingredients, that they’ve taken the unusual and run with it.

There is a musky floral here, that could be interpreted negatively, so quite a polarising flavour and I’ve marked it down for that, but I’ve loved every minute of this one as reflected in my personal rating which counters it.

Packed with flavour, this is as strong as it was the first time that I tried it, and that change in flavour on the exhale still gets me every time.

If you’re looking for something different, this is it!
