Advken Mad Hatter 24 V2 Mech Tube Review

Advken Mad Hatter 24 V2 Mech Tube Review

It’s not often I get a mechanical mod to take a look at, and it’s even less often, a mech tube! But Advken and Vaporstate have matched the perfect tube to their latest Madhatter RTA, and I just had to try it out!

This tube has been around for a while, well perhaps not in the same style. The Madhatter v2 was released a while back which I believe was 22mm and available with the Madhatter v2 RDA. This new Madhatter 24 v2 Tube seems to be a bit of a re-release, and this time 24mm in diameter, but I can’t find a lot of information on it on any of the usual websites, so it’s a bit of a mystery! Having said that, I love mysteries, so lets dig in!

Let’s check out Advken’s Madhatter 24 v2 Mech Tube!

Big thanks goes to Advken and Vaporstate, who sent this out for the purposes of review!

General Info

The Advken Madhatter v2 Mechanical mod, is not only a stylish and comfortable device to use, but it’s a pretty great hitter straight out of the box. Turned from brass, the Madhatter v2 tube is a nice weight in the hand, sturdy but not overly heavy, with a nice feel in the hand due to the coating, and ridges, and excellent conductivity with it’s brass/copper switch.

Measuring in at 24mm X 85mm, it’s a pretty common size, and the perfect diameter for Advken’s Madhatter RTA, and Ayana RDA, both sit seamlessly on top and look fantastic!

The textured paint used, feels durable, almost like a powder coated or Cerakote finish, textured, yet smooth and almost slippery to hold. Luckily there are ridges on the body, designed to make sure you can securely hold onto your precious tube! You’ll notice these also hide a single vent hole that runs along the side too!

With nice smooth threading, a button designed for maximum conductivity, and simple yet elegant styling, the Madhatter 24 v2 will make for a great addition to your mechanical collection!

The Connection

The Madhatter 24 v2 has a hybrid connection, no separate 510 pin, your battery will be in constant contact with the positive pin on your atomizer.

Important: You’ll need to make sure that the atomizer you are putting on top has a solid positive pin (not spring loaded) with a decent clearance to ensure safe operation.

Fortunately, the Advken Ayana RDA, and Madhatter RTA both come with solid pins, which makes them a perfect addition to the MH 24 v2 Tube.

The textured paint finish that the tube is wrapped in, stretches over the top of the hybrid connection, making sure the design is seamless, no matter what you put on top.

The Switch

I love this switch, while not overly complicated, the switch has been refined to not only give a lovely throw (button travel), but smooth operation and maximum conductivity too.

The housing is all brass, with the inner button copper and spring, all held in by a simple o-ring. No c-clips, no screw downs, just a simple o-ring. There’s some nice cross-hatching around the base of the switch to make it easier to grip when unscrewing, with ADVKEN stamped above it, so that it’s visible as you’re unscrewing the switch, which is a nice touch.

The actual button itself is copper, with the MadHatter skull logo engraved into it, its very well done and really makes this switch standout!

Making sure that you’re power isn’t constantly on, is the insulator, assumingly made from delrin, and forming a black ring around the firing pin. I have tried to unscrew this in both directions, but it doesn’t seem to want to budge at all. This is a shame as it would make the perfect adjustment for the throw of the switch if it could be unscrewed. Having said that, the small o-ring that holds it all together rests on the base of this delrin insulator anyway, so even if it did unscrew it wouldn’t adjust the throw at all, just how far the button rests inside the housing.
(Hint hint Advken 😉 , great little idea for adding throw adjustment!)

Looking at the switch, it also looks like it would be pretty easy to convert over to magnets if you so desire, two accurately sized ring magnets would get you there. So much potential in this switch!

Pros:

  • Nice clean styling
  • Smooth threading
  • Lovely throw and action of switch
  • Super conductive (hits hard)
  • Perfect size for MH RTA & 24mm RDA’s

Cons:

  • Throw of button is not adjustable

Where to Buy:

The Advken Madhatter 24 V2 Tube can be purchased directly through Advken, or if you’re in Australia, or happy to have products shipped from Australia, Vaporstate have them in for $40 AUD.

Vaporstate also have a really cool deal on at the moment, where you can purchase the Full Mad Hatter Tube Mech RTA Kit, it’s not just the Madhatter Rv2 Tube, but also the Madhatter RTA in one bundle for only $75 AUD.

To sweeten up the deal even more, Vaporstate are secretly including the Ayana RDA too! That’s an RDA + RTA + Tube for only $75 AUD!
Now that’s a steal!

Remember this deal is only available in Australia from Vaporstate, and there are only 100 sets of these, so you gotta get moving if you want to snap one up!

Conclusion

All in all, the Advken Madhatter 24 v2 Mech tube is a pretty nice piece of equipment! Despite it’s super simple and straight forward design, Advken have really put a lot of thought into this tube.

High conductivity due to the Brass and Copper materials used for the tube and the switch, lovely machining on both the tolerances of the switch and all threading, coupled with a smooth textured finish and nice detail on the switch button, all pull together to make this one decent bit of kit.

I really cannot fault this tube. I’m really reaching but about the only thing I would have liked to have seen on this is some type of adjustable button travel (adjustable throw). I could see making the delrin insulator adjustable might be a way to do that.

I love my tubes, but don’t tend to use them very often due to the clumsy operation of them, but the MH 24 v2 has been nothing but a pleasure. From the lovely action of the button to the easy to access battery. I’ve been running the Madhatter RTA on top and they are a perfect match together!

Great work Advken.
