Advken Artha 80w POD Mod Review

Advken Artha 80w POD Mod Review

If you’ve been watching, you’ll know that I reviewed the Advken Potento POD the other day, so along that theme, let’s take a look at another Advken product!

This time around it’s a little bit of a box mod, a Pod mod with quite a boxy shape, that not only takes 4.5ml of e-liquid, and an 18650 battery to power it, but runs up to 80 Watts, and comes with it’s very own 510 adapter, allowing you to run your own tank on top. How cool is that!

Let’s check out the Advken Artha Mod Pod!

Big thanks goes to VaporState for sending this through for me to review! They are the official Australian global partner for Advken.

First Impressions & Rundown

The Artha is an impressive little ‘all in one’ device, with a fabulous finish, and sturdy frame that simply feels well built. Straight out of the box, you’ll be impressed by the quality packaging, and extras that are in the pack, from spare coil to included 510 attachment.

The Artha is really small, measuring in at 88mm x 45mm x 23mm, it dwarfs so many other boxy POD setups, easily slipping into a pocket so that you can carry it around discreetly.

Featuring a maximum of 80 Watts, which is adjustable, via the buttons and screen on the base and powered by a single 18650 battery, you’ll have enough charge for a full day out, and e-liquid capacity to boot, with a 4.5ml POD tank that sits inside the unit which is not only refillable, but coils are also replaceable.
You’re covered in an emergency too, because the Artha has 1 Amp charging via it’s USB Type-C port, giving you a quick charge if you get caught out getting low on battery.

The Main Body

The fit and finish are really nice on the Artha, opting for a boxy ‘all in one’ design, Advken have packaged this up quite well, with everything conveniently tucked away inside the main frame. Literally, the only thing to protrude from the box is the drip tip, which is great for stealth vaping, but also for portability. The box is an Aluminium Alloy, lightweight, yet strong, you can really feel the strength and the sharp snap, when putting the magnetised panel back on when changing the battery or refilling the e-liquid.

The Artha comes in several designs, which sees the basic color of the actual aluminium box change, as well as the sticker insert used on both sides.
They are some very pretty options, striking, is probably a more descriptive word, you’ve the choice between: Gradual black, Aurora Blue, Aurora Red, Ink Black, and Ink Gunmetal.

On the outside from the top down, you have a 510 drip tip, airflow vent and USB Type-C port on one side, and small screen with tiny up/down buttons on the bottom for adjusting wattage.

On the inside, the Artha sports a 4.5ml push in Pod tank an 18650 battery bay with spring loaded terminals and battery ribbon for getting your batteries in and out easily.

The POD

The Artha POD is quite an interesting piece of kit, it’s of a squarish design with rounded edges so that you can get it in and out without issues. The coils push in from the bottom, and e-liquid is filled from the side via the provided silicone plug.

The 510 drip tip is actually fitted to the POD itself, which is kind of cool, the top of the POD slides into a recess in the top of the aluminium frame for more stability.

510 Adapter

Advken also ship a 510 adapter with the Artha. It’s a small, POD shaped fitting that replaces the POD in the recess, and allows you to screw a standard tank on top of the Artha.

The very fact that Advken have included this is awesome, it’s a great accessory to have, if you have a favourite small tank you’d like to take out for the day, or even if the POD’s dont agree with you, you can now pop a tank or even an RDA on top.

With the 510 Adapter installed, you can pretty much get up to a 24mm atomizer on top without noticeable overhang, I wouldn’t go any larger than that however.

One thing I’ve noticed about this adapter, is that you might get a little movement from it and the tank you put on top, due to the atomizer not being able to be fully screwed down, the door and the friction from locking the atomizer down do a good job to keep it in place, and stop it falling out, but you will notice a little bit of movement with anything on top. Not a deal killer, but can be annoying at times.

Coils

You’ll get 2 different coils in the Artha kit. Both are mesh coils, designed for excellent flavour and longevity, of which they succeed brilliantly at both. These tiny coils definitely pack a punch.
In order to fit these coils to the POD, they need to be seated to the airflow control adapter first, and inserted into the POD as one unit. (Don’t accidentally lose this adapter!)

  • The 0.8ohm mesh coil provided is perfect for MTL vapers, with a recommended usage between 15-20W, and with the effective airflow adjustment adapter, you’ll be able to get that real restricted MTL draw. Dialing in the wattage is really more of a personal vaping style.
  • The 0.3ohm mesh coil is a little airier, and gives as good as it gets right up to just 35 Watts. Just quietly, I’ve been over that few times and it hasn’t produced any burnt notes or dry hits.

These coils carry a pretty good range and cover most vaping styles, with super smooth airflow and great flavour.

Airflow

As you can see from the photos, the airflow comes in from the side through the patterned vent, and through the airflow adjustment adapter on the bottom of the pod tank, then directly up through the coil. It’s quite a good system and works really well, with the airflow adjustment range available from really restricted right up to an almost open DTL draw.

Battery

The Artha takes an external 18650 battery (not included) and for good measure, also has a USB Type-c port on the side so that you can charge in an emergency at a 1 amp input. The battery tray has a spring loaded negative connection, and ribbon so that you can get your battery in and out easily without risk of tearing the wrap.

You can also vape while the Artha is charging, which is a plus.

Filling

Super simple filling on the Artha, just take the door off, pop open the silicone plug on the side and fill. No fuss filling.

Any Leaks?

No, I’ve had no leaking, I have had to be careful when filling however, due to the fill hole being a little below the top of the POD when I try to fill it completely I get a little spillage.

Usage

Usage of the Artha’s variable wattage is really simple, the two small buttons provided at the base adjust your wattage up and down in 0.5 Watt increments right up to 80 Watts. The Artha does have a smart wattage, so when you put your POD back it will default to the coil’s standard wattage range, but there isn’t a wattage lock, so you’ll need to keep an eye on things and make sure you’re not vaping over the coil’s recommended wattage. The buttons are quite difficult to press being so small, you’ll need to use your fingernail, so that is highly unlikely to happen.

Other than your wattage buttons, x5 clicks of the power button powers the device down and another 5 clicks boots it up again, nothing really new, just like every other device on the market.

Pros:

  • Small comfortable size and form factor
  • Well machined
  • Excellent eliquid capacity
  • Super simple operation
  • Pass through charging
  • USB Type-C Port
  • Great flavour from coils
  • No leaks

Secret Code: ADVKEN2020

Cons:

  • Tight airflow adjustment – almost too tight
  • Really clicky fire button
  • Atomizer wobble when using 510 adapter
  • Small hard to press wattage buttons

Where to Buy:

Conclusion

This is such a cool little device, it’s super small, and even though it’s totally boxy, it still feels comfortable to hold. I’ve found myself just throwing this in my pocket, and totally not had any issues in doing so.
The battery life is great and so is the coil life, and flavour is very much on point for the size of the coils that this takes.

The 80 Watt maximum wattage is fantastic paired with the 510 adapter and being able to put your own tank on here is an excellent option.

Of course there are a few cons. The fire button, in my opinion is way too clicky, it’s quite noisy and can get annoying. A softer button would suit me better, but that’s personaly preference. Your tank might wobble a little when using the 510 adapter, due to not being able to be tightened down far enough. (shallow 510)

But that is it, other than those few things, I’ve been very happy with this setup, and have been using it very much every day for the last week or so. (even longer I think) You really can’t get more reliable than this, and while it’s absolutely pocket friendly, it’s also totally tough, and able to take a drop or two with no issue.

Excellent work on this one Advken, I’ve enjoyed every minute of my time with the Artha!
