Flavour Profile

From the website:
“My grandfather used to tell me stories of old man John Sassafras, wandering the wilderness with only the clothes on his back, his pack full of supplies, and a faded journal containing the last known copy of the perfect Sarsaparilla. Two parts sarsaparilla root, one part cherry, cola, vanilla extract, wintergreen, molasses, and anise. Nectar of the gods. John Sassafras is a home-made, herbal, root-beer/sarsaparilla juice.”

The Review:

I’ve purposely delayed doing a review on this one.
Not because it is bad, it is bloody fantastic! But because it’s such a complex flavour, that it’s quite the task to put down exactly how it tastes.
Is it root beer? Is it sarsaparilla? It really depends on what your definition of both are. Sarsaparillas and root beers come in many different blends, so one person’s view of one may not match anothers.
All I know is I’ve been vaping this flavour non-stop for a couple of weeks and still at a loss on how to describe it.
Morris @ VapourEyes has been kind enough to put many of the ingredients in the description: Sarsaparilla root, cherry, cola, vanilla, wintergreen, molasses, and anise.
That’s a lot of strong flavours right there, and some of them, you’ll not even realise are present as the others cancel them out.

Rather than pick this one apart, and try to explain or speculate the various flavours that went into it like I usually do, I am merely going to describe my experience with it.

At first I get a really cool, complex blast of flavour, that fills the mouth and confuses the hell out of me. To me it has more of a consistency of ginger beer/root beer. Not fizzy but almost. It has a dryness to it that does not dry you out, but keeps me wanting more, just as the beverages do.
I feel like the sarsaparilla and cherry are the main notes in this juice, they are present the whole time, whilst the anise, wintergreen and vanilla come into play a little more at the end of the exhale giving a nice almost mentholated finish.

This has been my go to juice for the last few weeks now, It’s been one of those flavours that I can always fall back on if I am getting sick of others. It is a really refreshing vape, perfect for warmer weather and for those that enjoy something a little different.

I have a feeling this is going to be my favourite for a while! Great job VapourEyes!

Colour:

Light in colour but will steep to a fairly dark tint.

Scent:

Sarsaparilla/Vanilla

Steeping:

I don’t think this one will benefit from much of a steep, perhaps a few days to a week, just to let all the flavours meld.

Presentation:

Nice plastic squeeze bottles with the tried and true black and white vapoureyes label. Minimalist but professional.

Test rigs:

This juice has pretty much been through all of my setups, from my small drippers, to kanger subtank, right through to the smok tvf4. Just as good tootle puffing, as lung hitting (although you may want to take it easy with the lung hits, this one has a coolness to it)

You can get John Sassafras here.
