eJuice Review 303: Watermelon Lemonade by Bunyip Vapes
I tell you what, I’m bloody glad that I picked this on up out of the review box to vape, specially over the last few hot hot days.
A custard or dessert just wouldn’t have been as pleasant in this weather!
Here is another one from the new kid on the block Bunyip vapes.
Today I’ll be reviewing, “Watermelon lemonade”!
This juice was supplied by the vendor.
From the website:
A refreshing homemade lemonade with luscious watermelon and a dash of raspberry. The treat to beat the summer heat.
Back home on the farm, on those long summer days, Dad would come in smelling of hard work and perspiration. Mum would always have a tall glass of ice-cold homemade lemonade waiting for him. He would raise the glass and drain it, before setting it down with a satisfied sigh. As the refreshing sensation filled his body, he would chase errant raspberries and chunks of watermelon around the glass with a finger.
The Review:
I was looking forward to this one, as I was in the mood for something quite light, and perhaps a little sweet and fizzy. It was a good pick because that is exactly what it is, well almost.
“Watermelon Lemonade” to me is more of an intense sugary lemonade, with a strong sweet raspberry overtone, and a light candy watermelon underneath.
Individual Notes
The lemonade can be quite intense, it is a fairly strong, and ‘in your face’ flavour, resembling a soft drink rather than the real lemon of a home-made lemonade. To me, perhaps a little too sweet, and full flavoured.
The raspberry is the same, it dominates the vape, when the lemonade doesn’t, and really drives home that sugary sweet feel. You know when you’ve eaten too many candies, and your taste buds are a little overloaded? I get that feeling from the lemonade and raspberry.
It’s a candy raspberry, hard candy in fact, and it does this really well, which also really suits the lemonade backdrop.
The watermelon… I was a little let down by this, as I expected that it might be a more dominant flavour, given the name, but it’s quite light, and sits in the background, really only layering over the top at times with a sweet hard candy watermelon note. Blink and you’ll miss it!
Inhale & Exhale
On the inhale I pick up raspberry straight away, a sweet hard candy raspberry, it continually intensifies during the inhale with a little bit of a lemonade note coming through toward the end of the inhale.
The lemonade continues through to the exhale, with the raspberry falling back a little. It’s still intense as is the lemonade, but somehow a hint of the watermelon shines through briefly, before the raspberry and lemonade come back with a vengeance and take over again.
The strong lemonade soda note finishes off the vape as you’re left wondering where the watermelon went 🙂
Final thoughts
A really nice flavour this one. I feel that it is a little bit to intense for the flavour that it trying to be, but that could also work to the advantage of newer vapers looking to get that flavour burst.
In my opinion, dialing back the lemonade and raspberry a little, therefore isolating and allowing the watermelon to shine through a little more would give this more of a thirst quenching feel.
One thing that I noticed, is that this one sings in higher wattages. Lower wattages it was a little muddled due to the intensity of the flavours, but higher wattage with a more open RDA or tank seems to hit the spot.
A great job and a really nice flavour, well done.
