eJuice Review 299: Vito by The Cartel Co

Today’s pick out of the juice box is from a company that I’ve heard little about. They seem to be pretty new, and have only the three different flavours available at the moment. “Vito, Castro and Yakuza”.

All named after mobsters or mafia groups, lets see if this first one makes it’s mark!
Today I’ll be reviewing “Vito”!

This juice was supplied by the vendor.

From the website:

Vito Corleone told me it’s not gambling if you know you’re going to win. This darkly sweet cannoli has a secret recipe for winning the game. A caramelised, crispy, outer shell. Deeply decadent vanilla custard. I too, know a winner when I see it. What can I say? He made me an offer I couldn’t refuse!

• Inhale: Vanilla, dark custard, cream
• Exhale: layered vanilla butter cream custard and sweetened pastry
• VG/PG: 70/30

The Review:

A cannoli can come in many various recipes, flavours and types, but traditionally we think of them as vanilla custard, squeezed into a unique sweet pastry tube with powdered sugar sprinkled over the top, well I do anyway.

And that is exactly what this flavour is.

Whilst replicating that unmisakeable crisp yet not quite crunchy pastry in vape form is going to be a tall order, the flavours and nuances are all there.

The creamy vanilla custard is sweet, and you’d think it would dominate the flavour but it sits side by side with the pastry note and doesn’t overtake.

The Cartel Co have done a great job keeping both of these notes seperate just enough to mimick the cannoli feel.

Individual Notes

The pastry is a close match for the sweet cannoli pastry, being crisp but not quite having a crunch to it. I liken it to a mixture between a graham cracker and a doughnut. There does seem to be something missing though, as the pastry is not quite “Spot on”. I feel that the pastry is missing a floury or cake note to it. I’m being very picky here, as it really is the only thing that I can find amiss.

The custard is great, it’s a thicker creamy custard with plenty of vanilla, which is exactly how I like my cannolis!

Inhale & Exhale

The inhale on this one is mostly vanilla custard, a sweet fluffy and thick custard with a little caramel note at the end of the inhale.

Onto the exhale, through the the vanilla custard and light caramel comes the bakery note. This pastry starts off as a little sugary, and then morphs into a lightly doughy mix similar to a doughnut with a little bit of Graham cracker to add the texture of a fresh cannoli base.

As the exhale continues, this pastry and vanilla custard begin to roll into the one tasty mix, smooth and creamy to finish the vape.

Final thoughts

This is one tasty Cannoli! It has all the right flavours in all the right places. Has a thick and creamy custard, a sweet and doughy pastry that will satisfy every dessert vaper’s.

Nice work guys.
