eJuice Review 266: Purple Haze by Sticky Fingers

Sticky Fingers are a cool brand with unicorn bottles, colourful labels and tasty sounding juices. I had the pleasure of trying their Banana Ice Cream a few weeks ago and loved it. Here is a link to the review.

The guys at Sticky Fingers liked my review so much they sent the rest of their range down for me to poke a stick at.

So here we are, Heres the first cab of the ranks, my second review from their range.

Today I’ll be reviewing “Purple Haze”!

A trip back to the 60’s through a rainbow wormhole. You just touched down in the midst of Woodstock. A blend of Galactic Grape and Mind-Bending Blackcurrant. This E liquid is out of this world!

The Review:

Grape is a difficult one to get right, it can sometimes come across as a little too tart and medicinal in flavour. On the flipside, it can also have a wavering flavour, losing it’s potency really quickly and leaving you with a faded grape note.

“Purple Haze” is none of those things, it’s a smooth, and sweet candy grape mixed with a killer blackcurrant.
Be prepared, this juice is sweet, sweet, sweet!

Picture a grape hubba bubba, or even a grape gatorade, mixed with a little Ribena and you’re starting to get an idea of the profile of this juice.

Individual Notes

The grape here is more of a candy grape than a real one, very similar to a grape hubba bubba, with its sweet hit and thick rounded texture. It’s sweet with not even the slightest tartness coming through. It is nothing but smooth.

The blackcurrant compliments the grape really well, adding some depth, complexity and a little more sharpness to break through the rest of the mix.

Im picking up a little sourness in here too. A little bit citrus, and assume it is a little citric acid added to enhance the flavours. I don’t taste it when vaping per-se, but can taste it when licking my lips after a toot. It is quite a sharp citrus note that makes the tongue curl.

Sweetness! This juice is really sweet. I’m guessing that there is a fair amount of sweetener added in order to smooth out the grape and provide that real candy note. Depending on your perspective this can be a good or a bad thing.

Good that it replicates candy really well, but bad that it will clog your coils and ruin your wicks pretty quickly.

Inhale & Exhale

The inhale is all grapey goodness, its sweet, candy-like and has a tonne of body to it. It is a thick flavour that lingers on the tongue and gives a nice full vape.

At the turn of the inhale and onto the exhale, the blackcurrant becomes more noticeable adding some sharpness and underlying tartness. The sweeteners hide this fairly well, and knock it back a little turning the grape into a base or bottom note, whilst the blackcurrant acts as a mid level break through flavour.

Toward the end of the exhale i notice a little citrus note, just like citric acid showing through. Its only a light touch but adds a high note to the mix even with the sweetener trying to bring it down.

The end of the exhale is pure sugary sweetness, that lingers on the tongue and provides a candy aftertaste.

Final thoughts

This is a really really tasty flavour. The grape is sweet without any overbearing tartness and the blackcurrant works really nicely with it.

Personally, this would be an all day vape for me if there just wasn’t so much sweetener. It is a killer flavour, and really is lovely.

If you’re on pre-made coils I’d definately be avoiding this one though, specially if your coils are on the expensive side.

If you’re up for it and don’t mind changing your coils and wicks out more often than usual, go for it, this juice is truly tasty!

Not so much coil damage, but a heap of gunking coils and ruining wicks. Beware this has tonnes of sweetener. I have rewicked x6 times in the last 3 days.

Great presentation with bright colourful labels. I received 30ml clear unicorn bottles with needle tip and child proof caps. All the expected info is on. The labels.

Test rigs:

Hadaly RDA with single SS coil @ 0.3 ohms on a bottom feed mod.
HAKU RDA with single SS316L coil @ 0.30ohms on a regulated mod running 50-80 watts.
