eJuice Review 177: Grouse by Dart Vapes

Introduction:

We’ve got another newish vendor up this week!

Dart Vapes is a husband and wife team based out of Melbourne, who hand craft their own eliquids, as well as offering various hardware and vaping goodies from their website.

They pride themselves on their ejuices, and use only the highest quality VG and PG as well as insisting on using the finest concentrates from around the world.

Let’s give them a try!

Today I’ll be reviewing “Grouse”!

From the Website:

Fruity with a mild mint undertone. Steep time – Shake and Vape.

The Review:

Now we’re on the 4th and final review of the Dart Vapes range of eliquids for the time being.

The first 3 were very dessert orientated flavours, so you’d be forgiven for thinking this one might be too.

It’s not, “Grouse” is a mixed fruit flavour, with menthol coolness. A profile of its own, a great flavour in its own right, and totally refreshing!

This flavour is so well balanced that I’ve had a really hard time picking out the various notes, but here is what I’m getting.

I pickup the sweetness of fleshy fruits, almost a papaya but not quite as sweet, the tartness of blackberries, a slight acidic texture, akin to apples, kiwi or acai berry, and a very light earthy note similar to that of strawberry seeds or the skin from a grape.

Both inhale and exhale are very similar, the notes don’t change, just the intensity of the fruits and the menthol.

This wonderfully mixed fruit flavour doesn’t really have layers per-se, not in the way that you’d expect.
Normally when vaping, as new flavours appear, others drop off in intensity, or become background notes as the new flavour dominates. Not so here.

At first I notice the earthy tones and tartness coming through, these stay the entire time and do not drop off, the sweetness and light acidic nuances then appear, not overtaking any nuance yet mixing in as quickly and smoothly as they arrived, all the while the menthol grows in intensity, and you’re left with a really refreshing cool and fruity exhale.

The menthol is at a nice level here too, not too little, and definately not too strong, it’s just right, and really completes this making it really refreshing.

We know that Dart Vapes are experts in the dessert field, now we’ve seen what they can do with their fruits! Nice work guys!

Very impressive presentation. My samples arrived in 60ml clear plastic bottles with sauce bottle caps, easy to fill my squonk bottles. The labelling and branding is awesome with the label being parchment coloured with dark brown overprint graphics, kind of newspaper style and old school stamping mixed together. All the information you need is on the bottles including warnings, ingredients, Pg/VG ratio etc…

Test rigs:

– Odis O-Atty RDA clone @ 0.3ohms on Pico Squeeze, running @ 50watts
– Serpent Mini RTA @ 0.6 ohms with a Clapton coil at around 40 watts
