Let’s give them a try!

Today I’ll be reviewing “Dinki Di”!

From the Website:

Strawberry donut, Need we say more…

The Review:

I was really looking forward to this one, glazed donuts with that pink icing are one of my favourite desserts and I’m yet to try an e liquid that comes close to the flavours of both the donut and the icing.

Dinky Di is a sweet and tangy strawberry, with very light sweet cream undertones and a touch of bakery.

Is it accurate to the description? Somewhat, yes it is. Is it a spot on replica? Not all of the time no.

The strawberry is more of a candy strawberry, not really an icing flavour, and the bakery notes? Non existent in my usual setup. Not exactly matching the description of the juice.

I knew something was up. The Hadaly has been pretty reliable for me and is one of the better flavour rda’s out there. So I decided to run this flavour through a few devices to see what was going on.

Here is how I found this flavour on various devices at various wattages.

RocVape Origo CVB on 0.5ohm coil @ 18w
The strawberry candy is the dominant flavour here, no sign of bakery notes, only a little sweet cream.

Psyclone Hadaly clone @ 0.3 ohms on Pico squeeze, probably running at 50 watts.
I’m really only getting strawberry candy, with a touch of sweet cream. Do you remember those red hearts hard candies. It’s that flavour, right down to the tang and slight fizzy texture.

Odis O-Atty RDA clone @ 0.3ohms on Pico Squeeze, running @ 50watts.
Candy strawberry, a little less dominant. I am also now getting the slightest bakery flavour coming through.

Serpent Mini RTA @ 0.6 ohms with a Clapton coil at around 40 watts.
I still get that candy strawberry, but it is a little less pronounced, and it’s accompanied by a nice thick bakery flavour, just like a donut. Don’t get me wrong, at this point the bakery is still a little muted, so……

Ok, let’s try some real wattage!

Kennedy RDA @ 0.3ohms standard dual coils at 60w – 100w.
Now we’re talking. From 60 watts onward I progressively get more of the bakery and cinnamon notes coming through, at these higher wattages, the strawberry is much less a primary flavour as with lower wattages.

So there we have it. It’s a power thing!  Now that I’m picking up these bakery notes let’s get into it.

On the inhale, I’m getting mainly candy strawberry with low wattages, with the strawberry becoming less and less candy the higher power you use.

Exhale is still candy strawberry on low wattages with a touch of sweet cream, and bakery with cinnamon notes.

With higher wattages the strawberry is much less candy, and allows the bakery notes and sweet cream to come into their own. The bakery notes are very much the fluffy dough you get from a fresh iced donut with that really nice fried outer. It’s smooth, slightly sugary with a little cinnamon nuance in there that trails off smoothly toward the end of the exhale.

This juice is really interesting in that the flavour changes a lot depending on the wattages you use.

I’m finding that even on the higher wattages, the strawberry is not quite the same as the icing you’d get on an iced donut, it’s more along the lines of the jam filling that you’d get in a berlina bun.

Having said that, if you’re a high wattage vaper, you’re going to love this strawberry donut flavour.

If you’re a low wattage vaper, don’t stress, you’ll get more of a heart candy flavour with all the zing that you’d get from the real thing, which is top notch in its own right!

Two flavours in one!

Very impressive presentation. My samples arrived in 60ml clear plastic bottles with sauce bottle caps, easy to fill my squonk bottles. The labelling and branding is awesome with the label being parchment coloured with dark brown overprint graphics, kind of newspaper style and old school stamping mixed together.
